Here we are at another weekend! Did you survive the short week? I BARELY DID, but that’s probably more to do with the fact that I agreed to look after what amounted to a small zoo while a bunch of my friends were out of town for LDW. (I do not want to see another living thing, not even myself in the mirror, for at least five days.) The good news is that there’s LOTS happening the next few days, and you’ll be ESPECIALLY pumped if you’re a drag fan // DragCon kicks off on Friday, and there’ll be plenty of other supplementary programming (including Bushwig 2019 and the Drag Race Season 11 Tour) that should keep you on your heels! (I love all of this, but I will unfortunately be glued to the television whilst the US Open wraps up!) Before we talk about all of that, here’s what you might’ve missed on BYT this week if you were too busy wishing ScarJo would just sit down sometimes!
- We’ve announced some more dope Bentzen Ball talent, so if you needed any more convincing to come hang out with us (and me!) in DC next month, this is it! 100% more Roxane Gay and Los Espookys action!
- “It’s like, ‘Somebody literally took a shit in front of me on the subway.’ Like, whatever the thing is, it’s so much.” I had a chat to Emma Frank about her new record, life in NYC and more! (She’s playing the Knitting Factory tomorrow!)
- Here are all the reasons we’re hype on September INCLUDING but not limited to new records from Chastity Belt, M83 and Bat for Lashes, Antoni Porowski’s cookbook, the bizarre-sounding Transparent musical finale sans Jeffrey Tambor, etc.!
- Here are our feelings on Love, Antosha, Brittany Runs A Marathon and Don’t Let Go!
- And here are our contributing photog Michael Gebhardt’s snaps of last Friday’s Flying Lotus in 3D show at Brooklyn Mirage!
