Let’s give a big ol’ HIP HIP HURRA (which means HIP HIP HOORAY in many other languages including but not limited to Spanish and Norwegian) for a slightly less soul-melting weekend! The forecast is still toasty, but about half the humidity, SO I WILL TAKE IT. Plenty on deck to get you outta the house INCLUDING Jeff Goldblum IRL, goat yoga, a SLIME EXPO and more! But maybe you’ve already got plans with your couch to watch the final season of OITNB, in which case you’ll be delighted to hear that that is our GIF theme! (I am personally delighted to hear that this is the last time we will have to listen to Regina Spektor sing the worst theme song of all time, aside from the one from The L Word!) Whatever the case, we’re about to get into ALL of the details momentarily. BUT FIRST…here’s what you might’ve missed on BYT this week if you were too busy peeling yourself off the post-heatwave floor!

Thursday July 25

  • For starters, CLEARLY grab $16 tickets to see a sneak preview of The Mountain ft. bonus Q+A w/ Jeff Goldblum at IFC Center! (Or if you can’t make it to that one, you can still see him introduce a later screening!)
  • Speaking of cinema, Nitehawk Williamsburg will present 8 short films for its The Future of Film is Female program, which is presented w/ MoMA! Q+A w/ the filmmakers to follow.
  • Plus Syndicated is all about the Harry Potter mania this week, and it continues tonight w/ $7 screenings of HP and the Goblet of Fire and HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban!
  • Too poor to shell out on movie theaters? Just get to Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park for a free screening of Coco and live performance by La Santa Cecilia! (PS, Coco made me feel v. stressed out and sad!)

  • In terms of LOLs, it’s a new round of Pass the Aux at Union Hall! Tonight’s deep dive will be none other than Beyoncé, and lineup includes Milly Tamarez, Ziwe Fumudoh and MORE! Tickets are $10 a pop.
