WOW WOW WOW it’s the weekend again! Can you believe it! There’s lots happening the next few days to help you shake off whatever residual trauma has settled in your heart after what I assume was a harrowing Thanksgiving at home with your weirdo relatives last week – find solace in emo parties, benefit shows, Har Mar Superstar and Sabrina Ellis’ performance of Dirty Dancing songs (our GIF theme, clearly) and MORE! Before we talk details, here’s all the rad stuff you might’ve missed on BYT this week if you were trying to get back here via planes, trains ‘n automobiles:

Thursday, November 29

Friday, November 30

  • For comedy vibes, swing by Union Hall for TWO shows tonight – first up is See You In Hell ($8-$10), and second is Everyday Decisions w/ Jo Firestone ($7-$10)!
  • PLUS it’s a new round of Las Culturistas Live: I Don’t Think So, Honey! ft. 50 comedians and performers taking one minute each to go off on culture. YES! Tickets are $20 each.
  • If a disco dance party is more your scene, get to Littlefield for A Night At The Baths! Tickets are just $5 a pop.
  • Meanwhile, there’s a $10 Juan Maclean DJ set happening at Good Room!
  • In terms of tunes-tunes, if you don’t mind a trip out to Jersey City, be sure to grab a $16-$18 ticket to catch Snail Mail at White Eagle Hall!
  • Or if you’re lookin’ to keep things slightly more local, hit up a $12 gobbinjr show over at Baby’s All Right!

  • OR pop on over to Irving Plaza for an evening with the inimitable Coeur De Pirate!
  • You should also heavily consider Har Mar Superstar and Sabrina Ellis’ $20 performance of the songs of Dirty Dancing over at Brooklyn Bazaar because OBVIOUSLY…
  • …plus The Internet will be at Hammerstein Ballroom in the event you’ve got $79+ to spare!
  • You could also dial it back w/ a $17-$21 show from Tall Heights and Frances Cone at Music Hall of Williamsburg…
  • …and/or a $20 performance from Say Lou Lou at Park Church Co-op!
  • OR JUST GO TO SAINT VITUS FOR MY CHEMICAL SLOW DANCE AKA EMO PROM! Advance tickets are sold out, but if you get there early you might be able to snag one of the reserves they’ll be selling at the door.
  • (There’s also the emo fallback of a new round of Black Parade at the Knitting Factory. Tickets are $5-$15 each.)

Saturday, December 1

  • For starters, CLEARLY grab tickets to the latest round of Tinder Live w/ Lane Moore at Littlefield! Tickets are $15 a pop.
  • And while we’re in comedy land, Union Hall is where it’s at! First up is the third annual Chanukahstravaganza ft. Lana Schwartz, Ilana Michelle Rubin, Seth Herzog and more! Tickets are $8-$10, and all proceeds go to the Squirrel Hill JCC and the Center for Advancing Holocaust Survivor Care. After THAT it’s Super Video Bros ft. Mike Brown, Dillon Stevenson, Mike Drucker and more! Tickets are also $8-$10.
  • Meanwhile, it’s a new round of Employee of the Month w/ Catie Lazarus at the Bell House! Tickets are $25 each. (PLUS stick around for tonight’s Party Like It’s 1999 after that, which is Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas themed and FREE as always.)

  • If I were you, I’d also super prioritize an 11pm and beyond dance party at Elsewhere – Jacques Greene, Lapalux, Working Women, Jessy Lanza (DJ Set), Doss & Dee Diggs will all be there, so it’s gonna be REAL GOOD. Tickets are $15-$25 each.
  • If you’re more into ye olde traditional show scene, be sure to swing by a benefit for the Southern Poverty Law Center ft. performances by Frankie Cosmos, Lee Ranaldo, Meredith Graves and more! Tickets are $25.
  • Or hit up Bowery Ballroom for a $25 show from Peter Bjorn and John!
  • Plus Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds will be at Irving Plaza for $20…
  • Chris Thile and Cat Power will be at Town Hall for $55+…
  • …and Cloud Nothings will be at Warsaw for $20!
  • And perhaps MOST importantly, it’s the ninth edition of Brooklyn Rock Lottery at the Knitting Factory! Tickets will run you $15 a pop.

Sunday, December 2

  • First, kick off your day at Nitehawk with a brunch screening of Elf!
  • OR recharge with some deep house yoga over at House of Yes! Tickets are $20.
  • Between 2pm and 5pm you can pop on by Union Pool for a benefit for PS 34 ft. performances by Meredith Graves, Balun, Adam Green and more! Tickets are just $12 a pop.
  • More into shopping? Hit up a holiday edition of the Oddities Flea Market at Brooklyn Bazaar! Tickets are $10.

  • Then, RSVP to hit up the final Queer Soup Night of 2018! It’s hugely popular and often hits capacity, so make sure to get on the list ASAP for an evening of $15-$20 suggested donation soup ‘n tunes! Proceeds will benefit the Communities United for Police Reform and Justice Committee.
  • Speaking of tunes, The Garden, Le1f and Machine Girl will all be at Elsewhere tonight for $16-$20!
  • Or if it’s comedy you’re after, get to Union Hall for an evening of Christi Chiello in It’s Christi, Bitch! Tickets are $8-$10 each.
  • Would you rather just dip your toes into the occult? Catland is hosting another free beginner witch study group!
