Guys I am real effing tired ‘n jet-lagged, so I apologize in advance if at any point during this post I make less sense than usual. WHAT CAN YOU DO. This weekend is full-on with good stuff considering it’s the New York Comedy Festival, plus there’s a Clarissa Explains It All party, which is what OBVIOUSLY inspired our GIF theme this time around. Before we get into all that stuff, let’s talk about a FEW things you may have missed on BYT this week:

  • We interviewed Outasight about his new record…
  • …and Fiction Plane about theirs!
  • We also had a listening party with Potty Mouth…
  • and spoke to the inimitable RAC!
  • PLUS we decided to give you an opportunity to win a free pair of Frye Boots NO BIG DEAL.

  • First, I’d highly recommend hitting up tonight’s edition of Ask Me Another at the Bell House, namely because David Cross is the VIP guest and David Cross RULEZ. Tickets are twenty bucks in advance, twenty-five at the door.
  • But if you’re more into tunes, then you might be interested to know that Futurebirds are playing Bowery Ballroom for fifteen bucks.
  • PERSONALLY I think you should scope Beacon and Glass Gang at Cameo Gallery for fourteen bucks.
  • Meanwhile, Alex Bleeker and the Freaks will be playing Brooklyn Bowl for fifteen bucks…

  • …and Bonobo’s doing a DJ set at Output for twenty-five bucks // tickets are available at the door.
  • You can also catch Kathy Griffin at Carnegie Hall because why the fuck not? (Be forewarned: tickets are between forty-five and ninety bucks.)
  • Or maybe you’d like to spend SLIGHTLY less money for funny times, in which case you should get to Littlefield for tonight’s edition of Mortified for ten bucks!
  • At Housing Works Bookstore Cafe, meanwhile, John McManus will celebrate the launch of Fox Tooth Heart and it LOOKS like there’ll be free refreshments.

  • As I mentioned earlier, the most important thing happening today (and this entire weekend) is a Clarissa Explains It All book party (with trivia) at Videology. RSVP HERE!
  • But maybe your fandom for Katniss Everdeen far outweighs that of your fandom for Clarissa Darling, in which case you should hit up Hunger Games trivia at Strand Books! (Admission is a $15 Strand gift card.)
  • Speaking of books, it’s ALSO the launch for Jessica Yatrofsky’s I <3 Girl over at powerHouse Arena this evening.
  • I’d also pretty highly recommend hitting up Union Hall for Homeschooled: A Comedic Lecture Series ft. Aparna Nancherla, Adam Conover, Kara Klenk and MORE for ten bucks.

  • And if you’re down to catch some late-night LOLs, then head to UCB East for And I’m Not Lying ft. Megan Gailey and others for just five bucks!
  • But maybe you have tons of cash, in which case you should spend spend spend it on a forty-five dollar ticket to see Sarah Silverman at BAM.
  • Music-wise, Chrome Sparks has an EP release party at Elvis Guesthouse (ft. DJ sets by Mister Lies and others) and admission is FREE.
  • Plus Kate Boy will be setting up shop at LPR for fifteen bucks a ticket, so that’s also a thing to consider.
  • AND, and, Meg Myers is playing Webster Hall tonight, ALSO for fifteen bucks a ticket.

  • First things first: it’s the 4th annual Momo Crawl in Queens, and there are twenty different vendors hawking momos for just one dollar! Details here.
  • Meanwhile, Kate Berlant and John Early will be at the Bell House tonight as part of the New York Comedy Festival for just fifteen bucks!
  • And speaking of the New York Comedy Festival, Jena Friedman will be at Union Hall for American C*nt and IT WILL BE GOOD. Tickets are eight bucks each.
  • Or head to an all-day affair for twenty bucks! Firestone Fest will feature Mara Wilson, Joe Pera, Julio Torres and SO MANY MORE, all at Hand & Detail.
  • Got a little more dough to throw around? Head to Carnegie Hall for Judd Apatow and Friends, which is also part of NYCF!
  • Plus Bill Maher will be at Madison Square Garden tonight, too, which’ll set you back between $45 and $145.

  • Of course, if music’s more your jam, then you’ll want to hit up Baby’s All Right for shows from Dilly Dally and Kate Boy tonight.
  • Plus Pat Mahoney’s at Cameo Gallery this evening for twelve bucks in advance // fifteen day of show.
  • AND we’ve got Nada Surf and Slothrust playing Webster Hall for thirty bucks!
  • Or head to the Brooklyn Hangar for a Gesaffelstein DJ set and a live performance from Jon Hopkins if you don’t mind spending over sixty bucks on tickets! Which I do!
  • Personally I vote we all just head to C’mon Everybody for a free DJ set by Mr Twin Sister. JUST SAYIN’.
  • UNLESS we happen to find twenty-five bucks on the floor in the meantime, in which case we should hit up Santos Party House for the twenty-fifth anniversary A Tribe Called Quest release party.

  • More into comedy? Catch Ari Shaffir at the Bell House for the New York Comedy Festival! Tickets to the gig are twenty bucks.

  • Not into that? CAN’T IMAGINE WHY LOL! Head to Black Bear Bar for Bell Mare instead! Tickets are ten bucks.
