HELLO and welcome to another bodacious weekend! (PS let’s bring back “bodacious”, maybe!) We’ve got a bacon ‘n beer festival, a hot sauce expo, another round of Tinder Live, a screening of Mad Max, AND IT IS PORNSTACHE I MEAN PABLO SCHREIBER I MEAN PORNSTACHE’S BIRTHDAY ON SUNDAY, so prepare to have your socks knocked off in about thirty seconds by an OITNB GIF theme as we go through everything that lies ahead. But FIRST, here are some ultra-important things you may have missed on BYT this week:

  • First, a lot of people were upset by the #LillyForTarget “crisis”. Here is me telling you that (as a Lilly Pulitzer cult survivor) IT IS ALL MEANINGLESS.
  • We ALSO interviewed Louise Vongerichten of Chefs Club NYC (and also Jean-Georges’ daughter) about the Chefs Club concept, the rotating menu, Jiro Ono and MORE. Read that right here.
  • And speaking of interviews, we spoke to Hurray for the Riff Raff, Madi Diaz, Becca StevensMarrow, Clear Plastic Masks AND Breakfast In Fur.
  • It was also 4/20, so here’s a definitive guide to what your favorite stoner band says about you.
  • Finally, want to get all caught up on Game of Thrones before the new episode this Sunday? Here’s a recap of last week’s action.

  • For starters, plan on getting to the Lower East Side’s Mercury Lounge by 9:30pm for a Stone Cold Fox show (with Sean McVerry) which will run you just ten bucks per ticket!
  • Or if you’re a fan of Christine and the Queens (you should be, FYI…) then you should re-route to The Westway where you can catch a twelve dollar in advance // fifteen day of show gig with Evvy and Corbu tonight.
  • And over in Brooklyn, meanwhile, we’ve got a show from Delicate Steve with Celestial Shore that will kick off at 8pm! Provided you’ve got twelve bucks to blow, you should most definitely swing by.
  • OR if that ain’t your jam, just pop down the road to Music Hall of Williamsburg, where San Fermin will perform with Metropolis Ensemble (as well as White Hinterland) for twenty bucks this evening.
  • You can also swing around the corner to Rough Trade instead, where Clear Plastic Masks will be taking the stage with Las Rosas and Dean Cercone at 9pm for just twelve bucks per ticket.
  • Still not feelin’ it? Maybe pop on over to Baby’s All Right, then, ’cause Low Cut Connie will be playing an album release show that you most definitely don’t want to miss. (Tickets are twelve bucks in advance and fifteen day of show.)

  • You’d also be a pretty big idiot to miss out on Lindstrøm at Good Room tonight, so if you can afford the fifteen dollar second release tickets (third release will rise to twenty) then GRAB THOSE RIGHT NOW.
  • Of course, I also have to mention the competing gig that Verboten’s got happening this evening from Bag Raiders for twenty bucks // as a former Modular Records intern, you may be able to guess where my loyalties lie on this one!
  • In the non-musical realm, we’ve also got another hilarious round of Tinder Live (yes, it is exactly what it sounds like and is amazing) happening at the Knitting Factory with Lane Moore tonight, so probably grab tickets now for twelve bucks before they ALL SELL OUT!
  • But do you like mysteries? And do you like naked people? If you answered “yes” to both of these questions, then you will feel right at home for Wasabassco’s Mystery Hour: The Naked Detective, which will cost you twenty bucks to attend at Littlefield tonight.
  • Or if you’re more into b-b-b-b-books, then hit up Book Riot and the Harry Potter Alliance’s presentation of BYOB Book Drive, where you can clean out your bookshelves and donate what you don’t want anymore to the Housing Works Bookstore!
  • And SPEAKING of Housing Works Bookstore, they’ll also be hosting another round of The Moth StorySLAM tonight! It basically ALWAYS sells out, so you should get there early and snag eight dollar tickets at the door.

  • Tonight (provided you can get there by 6:30pm) Madeon will be taking the stage at Webster Hall for twenty-five bucks in advance, thirty day of show, so you might consider grabbing a ticket before it’s TOO LATE.
  • For something a little more affordable, you might want to head #DOWNTOWN to Cake Shop, where Breakfast In Fur will be playing a show with Maybird and others for a mere eight bucks.
  • And in Brooklyn, you’ve got a SECOND opportunity to catch San Fermin performing at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Once again, tickets will run you twenty bucks each, but this time Son Little will open things up.
  • But if you’re a Yelawolf fan, you’ll want to head just up the street to Rough Trade, where there will be NOT JUST a show, but also a signing this evening. The best part? Entry is FREE with a purchase.

  • We’re also pretty into the Seryn gig that will happen later on in the evening at Rough Trade with Conveyor and Corey James Bost, so plan on sticking around for that one! (Tickets are ten bucks in advance, twelve day of show.)
  • Or just go dance your face off late-night (read: 11:59pm onward) over at Baby’s All Right, where the Adventure[s] DJs will be putting on an Illuminati Recruitment Ritual party for just five bucks a person.
  • Too broke but still wanna d-d-d-d-dance? Get on over to Union Hall starting at 11:30pm, ’cause they’ll be spinnin’ tunes that are at LEAST ten years old for all of ZERO DOLLARS!
  • But as I mentioned in the intro to this post, there will also be a goddamned screening of MAD MAX that’s happening at Sunshine Cinema tonight, so if you don’t mind the midnight screening time, then THIS IS FOR YOU.

  • First, if you love bacon and you love beer (read: you are a non-vegan, non-gluten-free human), then get yourself to Citi Field for the New York Bacon + Beer Classic! Hundreds of craft beer and bacon samples are available (keep in mind that tickets will run you $100+ at this point) for you to taste during the 6-10pm slot, which is the only non-sold-out option.
  • MEANWHILE, some like it hot; if this describes Y-O-U, then skip that last thing and hit up the NYC Hot Sauce Expo instead in Greenpoint! Fifty-five dollar tickets will get you five craft beer tickets and a BBQ sandwich platter, plus a commemorative bottle of High River sauces, OR just spend $10 on General Admission for ALL OF THE HOT SAUCE SAMPLES!
  • Trying to keep it the classiest of all time? Just head to Chefs Club NYC for an Introduction to Burgundy wine tasting class that goes from 3-5pm. (Tickets are $75, and light snacks will be provided.) To make reservations, call 212-941-1100
  • Not your jam? Then maybe instead you should consider hitting up Mercury Lounge for a gig ft. Downbeat Keys, Twin Wave and Superfecta, which will cost you ten bucks a person.
  • MEANWHILE, just up the street at Bowery Ballroom we’ve got Speedy Ortiz playing a show with Mitski and Krill starting at 9pm; tickets to that guy will set you back a reasonable fifteen bones each.
  • And if you don’t mind braving things a bit #UPTOWN, then you might be cool with heading to Terminal 5 for a Kodaline gig this evening instead! If that’s the case, prepare to cough up twenty-five bucks per ticket.

  • Nobody likes Manhattan anymore, though, so maybe just focused on the overly-promised land that is Brooklyn instead, ’cause Wild Leaves will be playing a show with The Yum Dee Days for just eight bucks in advance, ten day of show.
  • You can also still snag some affordable (read: ten dollar) first release tickets to catch Museum of Love at Good Room tonight! Get ‘em quick, though, ’cause soon they’ll increase to fifteen a pop.
  • It IS prom season for high school students, though, so why not hijack the occasion at an all-grown-up-ultra-nostalgic Pretty In Pink 80s Prom party at Littlefield? Tickets are five bucks in advance, seven at the door, and COSTUMES ARE ENCOURAGED.
  • Speaking of things that will cost you five bucks, you can also zip over to UCB East tonight for It’s A Long Story with Adam Newman, Sabrina Jalees and MORE for just five bones.
  • But let’s be real; you’re probably BROKE AS FUCK, in which case you should get your day going SUPER early to take advantage of the very free Fireships show that’s happening at Rough Trade at 2pm.
  • And if you don’t mind trekking it out to Barnard College for WBAR-B-Q, then you’ll not ONLY get a rad lineup of free tunes (Diet Cig, Perfect Pussy, Big Ups, etc.) BUT there will ALSO be free Indian food while supplies last.
  • Plus local heroes THE DEGRASSHOLES will be hosting yet another edition of free Degrassi screenings over at Videology tonight, so roll up at 11:30pm or (much like #WHEELCHAIRJIMMY) live in INFINITE REGRET FOR YOUR ACTIONS.

  • First, if you think you can drag yourself out of bed and over to Lincoln Center by 2pm today, then you MIGHT be delighted to hear that the mega-classic Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid will be screening this afternoon.
  • OR you might want to pop over to the NYC Hot Sauce Expo if you didn’t get to do it yesterday; ten bucks GA gets you entry and hot sauce samples from the vendors, while fifty-five bones scores you five beers and a BBQ lunch plate PLUS commemorative hot sauce bottle, and a hundred bucks gets you VIP status with unlimited access to EVERYTHING!
  • And if you’ve got some vinyl shopping to do then get yourself to Rough Trade, ’cause with your purchase you’ll get free entry to today’s gig from The Wombats, which should be MOST EXCELLENT.
  • Speaking of free, you might also want to head to the Studio at Webster Hall for a show from the inimitable Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Watter and Stillwater Artisanal! Seems like you just show up? I’d get there early if I were you.

  • And everybody likes They Might Be Giants (ACTUAL FACT!) so plan on getting yourself over to Music Hall of Williamsburg for an evening with the band! Tickets will cost you twenty-five bucks a pop.
  • More into theater? Watch Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night get mega-fuck’t up at Cake Shop with the help of one drunk actor and seven classically trained professionals from the LES Shakespeare Co.! (Tickets are twenty-five bones, but those include TWO DRINKS.)
  • Sandra Cisneros fan? You might consider popping by La Casa Azul Bookstore on E. 103rd Street today, ’cause she’ll be in-house from 4-6pm to sign copies of all your favorite books fo’ FREE.
  • And now that we’re back on the F-R-E-E train, you should also think about swinging over to Babeland for Get Banged, which starts at 3pm and will feature free: sex tips, bang trims by Fringe Salon AND (it appears) COCKTAILS!
