Hello! It is currently 3am, and I have just finished watching Simona Halep beat Angelique Kerber at the Australian Open! She (Halep) will now advance to the final against Caroline Wozniacki on Saturday at 3:30am EST! I am speaking English words, but I bet you do not understand any of them! That’s fine! (I also drank a cup of coffee an hour ago and am starting to feel like that was a mistake!) All of this ties into BWB, though, ’cause it’s STRAYA DAY on Friday, meaning this weekend is essentially a massive collision of all of my favorite things (tennis and Australia), additionally meaning I have a perfectly valid excuse to revisit one of my more favorite GIF themes, aka Kath and Kim, aka THE BEST TV SHOW EVER TO EXIST. Before we jump into all of that, let’s first discuss some BYT stuff that you might’ve missed this week:

  • In terms of LOLs, Josh Gondelman’s got a $10-$13 show over at the Bell House!
  • You can also hang out at Union Hall for Book Club ($8-$10) w/ Blythe Roberson, Colin Stokes, Nore Davis and more, plus it’s a new Picture This ($8-$10) with Ben Kronberg, Mitra Jouhari and a whole bunch of other v. funny humans after that!
  • Or if movies are more your jam, chug an espresso and get to Videology for a $12 midnight screening of Only Lovers Left Alive!
  • Just wanna drink free sparkling wine? Eataly will be giving some out (along with pasticcini) from 3pm onward while supplies last!

  • Oh my god first of all FIRST OF ALL please get your dumb face out of bed and watch Whale Rider at the Film Forum at 11am because it is one of the best movies.
  • Later, catch Mothica playing a show over at Elsewhere for just $10-$12!
  • And Gallery Petite in Bushwick will host Artists Trading Art, which is exactly what it sounds like! Not an artist but still wanna go? You can contribute food and/or booze to the potluck!
  • For comedy vibes, head to Littlefield for Generous Laughs (a benefit for the Pride Fund to End Gun Violence) w/ Patti Harrison, Mitra Jouhari, Mo Fry Pasic and more! Tickets are $10 each.

  • Plus you can chill w/ Kristen Bartlett (SNL) over at Union Hall for FOMO LIVE! Tickets are $8-$10 a pop.
  • You can also head to Bryant Park for Southwest Airlines’ presentation of a free silent disco, which sounds very funny to me! (Even though I think it’s not meant to!)
  • But maybe you just want to nerd out w/ Star Trek: The Next Generation trivia, in which case get to Videology where they’re putting it on for free!
  • Or just stay home and watch YE OLDE GRAMMY AWARDS! You can follow @BYT on Twitter for our live tweets. (They will be good.)
