We’re back for a new round of NYC Best Weekday Bets! Each day will feature a top pick in the areas of 1. fitness (active), 2. comedy, 3. culture, 4. film, 5. food + drink, 6. free, 7. music and 8. staying in (because let’s face it, sometimes you just want to not leave your couch). It’s a short week this time, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to do INCLUDING natto dinners, Babadook screenings (our GIF theme) and MORE:

Monday, June 4

ACTIVE: Tonight there’s a free capoeira workout class at Dancewave in Brooklyn, so if you’re in the market for affordable exercise, this is it!

COMEDY: Tonight’s Butterboy w/ Jo Firestone, Maeve Higgins and Aparna Nancherla at Littlefield is set to be a great lineup! Todd Barry, Hari Kondabolu and more will be there, and tickets are just $10.

CULTURE: Head to Art of Brooklyn Film Festival’s launch party at Barcade tonight! Free beer, wine ‘n video games in the company of America’s best film buffs! Tickets are $25+.

FILM: Go watch The Babadook for $12 at Videology tonight! (It’s Pride month after all!)

FOOD + DRINK: There’s a vegan Mexican pop-up at Modern Love in Brooklyn tonight! The four-course meal will set you back $50, and there’ll be tacos, tortas and more!

FREE: Catch a free rooftop screening of Dirty Dancing at Our Wicked Lady tonight, DUH!

MUSIC: My top pick for tunes tonight goes to Baby’s All Right, where Colouring will be playing a $15 set!

STAY IN: I don’t even like hockey all that much, but I kind of feel obligated to watch the Caps continue their journey towards Stanley Cup victory.

Tuesday, June 5

ACTIVE: Take advantage of a free zumba class at MetroTech Center tonight! Dodge YMCA is putting these on starting tonight and continuing through August.

COMEDY: It’s the PRIDE edition of So Into It: A Fanatical Variety Show at UCB East tonight, meaning the theme is The L Word, which sounds like it’s going to be REAL GOOD. So grab yourself a $9 ticket and go!

CULTURE: Kyle Richards will be at 92Y tonight to discuss American Woman! Tickets are $50 a pop.

FILM: JBF Greens is bringing you a night of film ‘n food tonight! They’ll screen Constructing Albert, and afterwards there will be bites from some of NYC’s top chefs, plus Campari cocktails, Ommegang beers and Palm Bay Imports wine. Tickets are $75 a pop.

FOOD + DRINK: Hit up Archestratus Books & Foods for A Night of Two Vessels: An Evening w/ Daniel Gumbiner! There’ll be reading, discussion, snacks ‘n rum, and it’s free to attend!

FREE: It’s Moog Night on Elsewhere’s brand new rooftop, and it’s free w/ RSVP! I’m gonna be there decompressing from a long AF weekend of travel (I’m still in Baltimore as of this writing), so MAYBE C U AROUND!

MUSIC: Australia’s Gordi is back at it again at Baby’s All Right tonight to continue her residency, so I’d highly suggest grabbing some tickets for $10-$12 a pop!

STAY IN: I have a sick obsession w/ Intervention, and there’s a new episode on tonight. PROBABLY GONNA WATCH, HBU?!

Wednesday, June 6

ACTIVE: Head out to Coney Island for an hour of yoga on the beach PLUS a free pint of beer at Coney Island Brewery afterwards, all for just $5!

COMEDY: Most definitely get to the Bell House for Riverdale Live ft. Tim Platt, Sophie Santos, Sydnee Washington and John Trowbridge! Tickets are just $6-$8 each.

CULTURE: Head back to 92Y tonight for a conversation with the inimitable Roxane Gay and Tayari Jones! Tickets are $33+.

FILM: Feel like singing? Syndicated is hosting a $4 Grease singalong tonight! THERE ARE WORSE THINGS YOU COULD DO!

FOOD + DRINK: If you’re familiar with natto, the fermented Japanese staple, then you’ll know it’s a REAL ACQUIRED TASTE! But Megu will be hosting a six-course dinner tonight highlighting various uses for New York-produced natto, which sounds interesting AF. Grab tickets for $45.

FREE: Head on back to Elsewhere tonight to catch ANOTHER rad rooftop situation ft. DJ sets from Computer Magic and Exhibition! Free w/ RSVP!

MUSIC: CLEARLY go see Depeche Mode play Barclays Center for $30+!

STAY IN: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is on BBC America tonight for some reason, and I’m REAL HERE FOR IT.
