We’re back for a new round of NYC Best Weekday Bets! Each day will feature a top pick in the areas of 1. fitness (active), 2. comedy, 3. culture, 4. film, 5. food + drink, 6. free, 7. music and 8. staying in (because let’s face it, sometimes you just want to not leave your couch, especially when it continues to be cold AF outside). Lots on the books this first couple of weekdays INCLUDING but not limited to black metal yoga, hang times with Nigella Lawson, a screening of Ghost World (our GIF theme) and MORE:

Monday, April 9

ACTIVE: Planning to dust off ye olde bicicleta this spring? Hit up a bike tire changing clinic at Toga – no bike necessary, just show up and take notes!

COMEDY: Oh my god, it’s the Jessica vs. Ashlee Simpson edition of Battle of the Divas at Union Hall tonight and OBVIOUSLY I WANT ALL OF US TO GO! Matteo Lane, Christi Chiello, Mo Fry Pasic and more will be there, and tickets are $10 each.

CULTURE: Pop over to Lincoln Center for a free talk by the New York Philharmonic titled “Fact or Fiction? ‘Amadeus’ and the Portrayal of an Artist”.

FILM: Videology is THE SPOT tonight w/ $12 screenings of Eternal Sunshine and the aforementioned Ghost World! YES DOT COM!

FOOD + DRINK: Head to A Taste of Scotland at the University Club for whiskey, food ‘n words! Tickets are $85 each.

FREE: Get to Metropolitan for all of the drag shows and all of the good tunes at tonight’s Hot Fruit! No cover! And if you ARE in the market to spend some cash, PBR tall boys are just $2 each! (Tip your bartenders ‘n performers!)

MUSIC: Obviously hit up LPR for a show from The Go! Team tonight! Tickets are $20 a pop.

STAY IN: Will I ever not suggest pounding back to back episodes of Antiques Roadshow on PBS? (To be determined.)

Tuesday, April 10

ACTIVE: It’s time again to go for a run and get a free drink from Shake Shack in return! Details here.

COMEDY: Get to Union Hall, ’cause the How I Learned series is back at it again w/ Aparna Nancherla, Isaac Fitzgerald and more! Tickets are $8-$10.

CULTURE: The Society of Illustrators will host Taiwan Comics Night tomorrow, so if you’re an animation enthusiast, probably grab yourself a $15 ticket.

MUSIC: Tonight catch Lissy Trullie at Baby’s All Right for $10-$15!

STAY IN: La Casa De Papel (or Money Heist in English) is back on Netflix w/ Part Two, and it is SO GOOD. Sorry to ruin whatever productivity you had planned. Also, make sure to switch the audio back to Spanish w/ English subtitles, because it automatically makes it English dubbed, which is SO ANNOYING.

Wednesday, April 11

ACTIVE: Obviously go do Black Metal Black Light Yoga at Lucky 13 Saloon tonight! Tickets are $17.

COMEDY: As of this writing, there are miraculously still tickets to catch David Cross at the Bell House tonight for $12-$15! But get them fast, goddammit! This show has sold out every time!

MUSIC: Head on over to Elsewhere for a show from Cub Sport, Mons Vi and Saint Marilyn tonight! Tickets are $10-$12 each.

STAY IN: If you’re not permanently sucked into the world of La Casa De Papel as per last night’s recommendation, BBC documentary Harry Potter: A History of Magic is airing on the CW tonight. EXPECTO PATRONUS OR SOME SHIT!
