We’re back for a new round of NYC Best Weekday Bets! Each day will feature a top pick in the areas of 1. fitness (active), 2. comedy, 3. culture, 4. film, 5. food + drink, 6. free, 7. learning, 8. music and 9. staying in (because let’s face it, sometimes you just want to not leave your couch, especially when it continues to be cold AF outside). Lots on the books this first couple of weekdays INCLUDING but not limited to drunk yoga, a free Heathers screening and MORE:

Monday, April 2

ACTIVE: It’s a goddamn Monday. Don’t tell me you don’t want to booze while you’re doing yoga, you guys. Hit up Coco-Mat for a $10 class ft. free drinks.

COMEDY: Grab $10 tickets to an all new round of Butterboy at Littlefield tonight! Featured guests include Casey James Salengo, Claudia Cogan and MORE!

CULTURE: Celebrate the 50th anniversary of 2001: A Space Odyssey with the one and only Michael Benson tonight! He’ll be at NYPL to chat with David Mikics, and it’s free w/ RSVP.

FILM: If you can bunk off work early, probably get to an afternoon of Meredith Monk screenings at Martin E. Segal Theatre Center! After the screenings, Meredith Monk will participate in a discussion IRL! (That part is set to start at 5:30pm, which might be a little more reasonable in terms of skipping out on your job.) Free and open to the public, first come first served!

FOOD + DRINK: Top Hops Beer Shop is hosting a beer tasting class tonight! Tickets are $65, and they include the price of the beer you’ll sample.

FREE: Hit up Greenlight Bookstore for BOMB’s spring issue launch! There’ll be a short program followed by wine ‘n minglin’, which sounds good to me!

LEARN: Head to Catland for a $20 course titled Bioregional Animism for the Urban Witch! #NICHE

MUSIC:  If you don’t mind a trip out to Asbury Park in the name of nostalgia, Dashboard Confessional will play a $66+ show at the Stone Pony tonight!

STAY IN: Two words – ANTIQUES. ROADSHOW. Yes, it’s back for another double-header on PBS tonight and YOU KNOW I’LL BE WATCHING.

Tuesday, April 3

ACTIVE: Pressed for time tonight? Hit up a lunchtime no-sweat workout at the New Balance Run Hub! Totally free, just bring your own yoga mat.

COMEDY: Union Hall is the spot to be tonight! My Hometown will feature sets by Josh Gondelman, Jo Firestone and MORE for just $6 a ticket

CULTURE: Post up at Poets House to catch to an evening of readings spanning thirty years of the best American poetry tonight! David Lehman will host. (You can also head to a book signing at Barnes and Noble with the inimitable Sloane Crosley! She’s got a new book of essays out, which sounds rad dot com.)

FILM: Obviously get to The Rosemont for a 9pm screening of The Witches of Eastwick ft. drag shows ‘n more!

FOOD + DRINK: If you’re in the mood for booze ‘n fromage, head on over to Murray’s Cheese for a wine and cheese pairing tonight! Tickets are $90.

FREE: It’s a new BYOA (Bring Your Own Animation) at Scallywags tonight, so if you’re working on anything, or if you just want to come and check out what others have been working on, then this is for you! No cover!

LEARN: Meg Wolitzer will be in conversation with Jia Tolentino at Books Are Magic tonight to talk The Female Persuasion! The best part? It’s free to attend!

MUSIC: Catch Talib Kweli w/ a full band at Brooklyn Bowl tonight, duh! Tickets will run you $17 a pop.

STAY IN: Are we sold on the Roseanne reboot? I can’t tell yet. Maybe we need to watch again tonight to find out.

Wednesday, April 4

ACTIVE: Get to a $10 self-defense course at the Islamic Center at NYU!

COMEDY: Swing by Starr Bar tonight for Full Moon Comedy w/ Mehran Khaghani and more! Tickets are F-R-E-E!

CULTURE: Head to the A/P/A at NYU for tonight’s Scholar Slam ft. ten minute presentations by the current visiting scholars! Admission is free w/ RSVP.

FOOD + DRINK: It’s Duck Off 2018 at ICE tonight, so if you’re into everything from duck rillettes to duck wontons, this is the event for you! Tickets are $50 each and include food and two drinks.

FREE: There’s a Bach listening party happening at Devialet tonight to celebrate the composer’s 333rd birthday, which sounds kind of weird and amazing. Tickets are zero dollars, in case this was not already apparent!

LEARN: Head to Brennan Center for Justice for a debate titled The Constitution vs. Trumpism: Challenges to the Rule of Law in 2018! Free admission w/ RSVP.

MUSIC: Normally I try to avoid recommending shows that’ll break the bank, but I mean, seeing Lorde (with Mitski as an opener) at Barclays for $80 sounds p. bomb, so if you have the means, then BY ALL MEANS…

STAY IN: Star Wars: The Force Awakens is on TNT tonight, so like, obviously that is THE choice.
