Monday, December 10

ACTIVE: Silent Disco Yoga is a thing that exists, and you can do it at the James New York (NoMad) tonight for $8!

COMEDY: Get into the holiday spirit at Union Hall tonight, where Tommy McNamara, Christi Chello and Anthony DeVito will festively (and funnily) singing to you! Tickets are $10 a pop.

CULTURE: Head to Strand Books for a panel discussion on sex positivity, duh! Admission can be gained through the purchase of a $15 Strand gift card.

FILM: It’s standby only, but my top pick is 100% Chapo Trap House’s presentation of Starship Troopers at Lincoln Center tonight! The screening will feature a bonus discussion w/ CTH afterwards.

FOOD + DRINK: Catch Tarra Thiessen and Natalie Kirch of Sharkmuffin at Muchmore’s tonight, where they’ll be presenting their artwork ‘n pizza and ice cream flavor creations! Musical performances are happening as well, and all of it’s a $5 suggested donation to benefit Immigrant Families Together.

FREE: It is IMPERATIVE that you get to Books Are Magic for an Abbi Jacobson appearance! She’ll be presenting I Might Regret This, and as it’s a free and unticketed situation, you’re gonna have to turn up REAL EARLY, like right at 5pm when the line is allowed to begin forming. WORTH IT, PROBABLY!

MUSIC: Most definitely head to Murmrr Theatre for an evening with the one and only Kimbra! Tickets will run you $25-$45 each.

CULTURE: If you can bunk off work for a bit, catch Kristen Gillibrand at St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church as she presents Bold & Brave: Ten Heroes Who Won Women The Right To Vote! Tickets are $23+.

FILM: Miskatonic NYC will present The Frequency of Fear ft. Dean Hurley, American sound designer, re-recording mixer and composer who’s ALSO a longtime David Lynch collaborator! Tickets are just $15, and the whole shebang is taking place at Film Noir Cinema.

FOOD + DRINK: It’s the latest round of The Vegan Parley at Urban Vegan Kitchen tonight! Tonight’s topic of discussion is “Dead Flesh Is Aging You” (cheerful!) and admission is free w/ RSVP.

CULTURE: Head to 92Y for Stories from the Dream Chasers, Change Makers, and Hope Creators Inside the Obama White House w/ our buddy Deesha Dyer, who’ll be joined by Hope Hill, Bill Yosses and Cindy Uh for a discussion about their experiences from the glory days! Tickets are $29 a pop.

FILM: Hit up Nitehawk for Experimental Animation Show tonight ft. 63 minutes of experimental animated shorts and a post-screening Q+A w/ many of the participating filmmakers!
