We’re back for a new round of Best Weekday Bets! Each day will feature a top pick in the areas of 1. fitness (active), 2. comedy, 3. culture, 4. film, 5. food + drink, 6. free, 7. music and 8. staying in (because let’s face it, sometimes you just want to not leave your couch, especially when it continues to be cold AF outside).
Lots on the books this first couple of weekdays INCLUDING but not limited to a vogue ball, a dumpling tour of China, a talk with Alec Baldwin and Michael Wolff (our GIF theme, duh!) and MORE:
Monday, February 5
ACTIVE: Feel like you need to get some aggression out? Head to Gotham Archery’s 3D target night, where you can shoot up everything from deer to king cobras! (All fake, of course!) Tickets are $35, AND you have the chance to win cash prizes if you prove to be a sharpshooter.
COMEDY: It’s a new Pulitzer Surprises tonight at Union Hall, and the lineup features Blythe Roberson, Joe Pera and MORE! So, if you can scrounge up eight bucks from the couch cushions, most definitely grab a ticket!
CULTURE: Into photography? Chill w/ FujiFilm at Duggal tonight! There’ll be talks on printmaking, giveaways, refreshments and more!
FILM: Haven’t seen The Florida Project yet? Get to Videology tonight, where they’re screening it for $12.
FOOD + DRINK: Hit up Silent Barn tonight to take part in a drink ‘n draw event! Sliding scale tickets are available for $7-$10, though no one will be turned away due to lack of funds!
FREE: Head to Berlin to catch the inimitable Kim Boekbinder in residency for all of zero bucks!
MUSIC: Definitely catch Kronos Quartet with Face the Music at Merkin Concert Hall! Tickets are running at $25 a pop.
STAY IN: I mean, The Bachelor and Seamless are calling all our names.
Tuesday, February 6
ACTIVE: Too self-conscious to dance with the lights on? Then get to Vitamin at the Williamsburg Hotel, where can dance in the dark for $18!
COMEDY: UCB East is hosting a new round of So Into It (Jennifer Love Hewitt themed) tonight, so scrape together $9 and have yourself a merry old fanatical time!
CULTURE: Alec Baldwin’s gonna be in conversation with Michael Wolff (the journo who wrote Fire & Fury) at Town Hall, and I’m willing to bet it’s gonna be a pretty dope time. Grab tickets for $42-$67 each.
FILM: Get your face over to IFC Center tonight for a screening of Seeing Allred ft. a Q+A w/ Gloria Allred herself!!! Tickets are $17 each.
FOOD + DRINK: Chef Leah Cohen (Top Chef) will be serving up a one-night-only dinner menu at Tasting Table’s Test Kitchen, so if you happen to have $165 to spare, snag yourself a ticket!
FREE: It seems like you can score some free Bols Genever 100% Malt Spirit-infused cocktails tonight provided you RSVP to get your name on the list, so I’d highly recommend doing that in the name of potentially comped booze!
MUSIC: My top pick for tonight is a $10-$13 Glasser gig at Union Pool for (hopefully) obvious reasons!
STAY IN: Bring It On is screening on E! and I would never not recommend watching that movie for the 100th time.
Wednesday, February 7
ACTIVE: Go vogue your little heart out at House of Yes! They’re putting on a VOGUE BALL tonight, and tickets are $10-$15 each. (And if you’re white and/or straight, please be respectful!)
COMEDY: Tonight hit up UCB Hell’s Kitchen for Jay Malsky Slept With My Boyfriend! Tickets are just $9 a pop.
CULTURE: Obviously head to Littlefield for the Ligo Project’s presentation of The Art of Science Gallery Night ft. tons of science inspired art! Free to attend, even better!
FILM: Dr. Strangelove is screening at Brooklyn Bazaar tonight for free! YOU CANNOT BEAT THAT VALUE!
FOOD + DRINK: Ummmm obviously head to MOFAD for their Dumpling Tour of China event, because HOLY YUM.
FREE: Head to Saint Vitus tonight to see Acid Tongue play a gig FO’ FREE!
MUSIC: In terms of non-free tunes, you can catch J. Roddy Walston and the Business over at Music Hall of Williamsburg for $20-$25!
STAY IN: I am very much emotionally invested in American Crime Story because it is so gay and so murder-y, so obviously I’ll recommend you stay in to watch that on FX!
