I used had a radio show that only played bands currently performing in the District. That show is super dead, so we’ve resurrected it (with way more words and far less radio) in the form of this column. Every day I’ll review a song from a band playing in D.C. that night. The rules are, 1. I can only listen to the song once and 2. I only have until the end of the song to finish my review.

So far I like everything about this because 1. Mothers is a good name and 2. “No Crying In Baseball” is a good title. I hope it has nothing to do with baseball. Like Say Anything’s “Baseball But Better”. The lead singer has a strange kind of keening voice but in a good way, I think. I am intrigued. Yeah. The music is dreamy but kind of discordant and I’m seriously enjoying this. There is also yelling. I like the yelling. This is good. You should go see this band. The ending is GREAT. There is lots of music happening and it is a good time.

You can see Mothers tonight at DC9.
