Once upon a time, I had a radio show that only played bands currently performing in the District. That show is super dead, so we’ve resurrected it (with way more words and far less radio) in the form of this column. Every day I’ll review a song from a band playing in D.C. that night. The rules are, 1. I can only listen to the song once and 2. I only have until the end of the song to finish my review.

LEMAITRE – BLUE SHIFT

So for the first 10ish seconds of this song I was very “ehhh” about it, but now I’m starting to enjoy it. It almost sounds kind of silly, but in a fun way. I mean, let’s be real, I will probably never listen to this song again, but I’m not mad about listening to it now. It’s very poppy, but almost in a delicate restrained sort of way. I don’t know. Holy shit. All of those voices surprised me. They almost sound like robot voices. Like a chorus of robots.

You can see Lemaitre tonight at U Street Music Hall.
