Once upon a time, I had a radio show that only played bands currently performing in the District. That show is super dead, so we’ve resurrected it (with way more words and far less radio) in the form of this column. Every day I’ll review a song from a band playing in D.C. that night. The rules are, 1. I can only listen to the song once and 2. I only have until the end of the song to finish my review.

HOTHEAD – BOSS HOG

I like this already. There is a creepy baby doll on the band’s bandcamp page and the banner says “Current Mood: gloomy.” I don’t really know what’s happening in this song but I’m not necessarily upset about it. This is fine. I feel like I’m listening to a recording of band that was then re-recorded over with random ambient noise. Like tin cans clashing around and trash cans being kicked over. That’s okay. I guess. It’s all okay… I guess.

You can see Hothead tonight at at Black Cat.
