Once upon a time, I had a radio show that only played bands currently performing in the District. That show is super dead, so we’ve resurrected it (with way more words and far less radio) in the form of this column. Every day I’ll review a song from a band playing in D.C. that night. The rules are, 1. I can only listen to the song once and 2. I only have until the end of the song to finish my review.

HONEYHONEY – ANGEL OF DEATH

Church bells. I feel confident already. They’re very foreboding and atmospheric. Oh shit, this is like a full movie-esque music video isn’t it? The kind that is five minutes of set up  and then two minutes of actual music. Alright, never mind, the song has actually started. Very acoustic. Lots of strings. Kind of mopey. Not in a bad way though. It has a very old school country vibe. I actually really like this. Holy shit, is that Martin Starr? It is. Wow. That’s weird. This entire music video is weird. Just take a second and watch it. Trust me.

You can see HoneyHoney tonight at The Hamilton.
