I had a radio show that only played bands performing in the District. That show is super dead, so we’ve resurrected it (with way more words and far less radio) in the form of this column. Every day I’ll review a song from a band playing in D.C. that night. The rules are, 1. I can only listen to the song once and 2. I only have until the end of the song to finish my review.

HIGH WAISTED – SHANGHAI SPY

This band has a really excellent A+ tumblr, so even if I’m not crazy about this song I’m probably going to follow them because I am one of the fifteen teenagers that still use tumblr (I am not a teenager IRL, just in my heart). This sounds like the kind of music that belongs in a spy movie if the spy was also a surfer, so I am beyond sold. I want to listen to this really loud on the Metro during my morning commute to work like a jerk. Actually, scratch that, I want to listen to it every time I am walking somewhere with purpose (which is all the time). I’m glad this is a thing that exists.

You can see High Waisted tonight at the Dead Kennedy Center.
