I had a radio show that only played bands performing in the District. That show is super dead, so we’ve resurrected it (with way more words and far less radio) in the form of this column. Every day I’ll review a song from a band playing in D.C. that night. The rules are, 1. I can only listen to the song once and 2. I only have until the end of the song to finish my review.
CHRISTOPHER THE CONQUERED – I’M NOT THAT FAMOUS YET
Everything about this is kind of terrible, but goddamnit I’m into it. The piano is super out of tune. It sounds like this guy broke into an old person’s house and just started jammin’ out. And by jammin’ out I mean singing some real emo shit. This reminds me of Shia LaBeouf and the “I’M NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE” thing. I mean, this is technically saying the opposite, but they seem similar thematically, since they’re both making me uncomfortable in the exact same way. There is something deeply off about everything that’s happening here and I’m 100% sold.https://youtu.be/CU7Wk5xSRV8
