Once upon a time, I had a radio show that only played bands currently performing in the District. That show is super dead, so we’ve resurrected it (with way more words and far less radio) in the form of this column. Every day I’ll review a song from a band playing in D.C. that night. The rules are, 1. I can only listen to the song once and 2. I only have until the end of the song to finish my review.

This is very upbeat. In a weird way. I guess. I don’t know. I’m paying more attention to the music video than the actual music because it’s weird and I like it. I feel like this would be a fun band to see live. Especially if there is as much confetti in their show as there is in their music video.

You can see Born Gold tonight at the 9:30 Club.

Sweetlife is on Saturday, so I figured I should do a New To Me for one of the bands playing. I like this so far. It feels very cool. Like cool people in a movie would listen to this. I guess the band also looks very hip and fashionable in the music video, so that could be influencing my feelings.

You can see The Bots today at Merriweather Post Pavilion. If you have a ticket to Sweetlife that is.

This is another band from Sweetlife because I am a helpful person. I really like these vocals. They sounds kind of echoey. This is cool. I would definitely listen to this song again. I can mostly see myself looking in the mirror and singing, “Baaabbbyyy you’reeee the bessssst” to myself.

You can see Wet today at Merriweather Post Pavilion.
