After a string of successful shows at U Street Music Hall, Moombahton Massive took over the 9:30 club Saturday evening. And into most of Sunday morning.
For the District, moombahton is the glowing genre of the electronic world. At any given festival around the world, DJs drop the mid-tempo, reggae inspired beats leaving crowds in awe, and usually grinding. But for DC natives, it’s a familiar feeling, thanks to Dave Nada starting the scene right here.
He, along with huge names like Sabo, Gent & Jawns, Kingman Fire, Heartbreak and more spun beats until nearly 4 in the morning. With a few, like Billy the Gent, getting a crowd-level view.
