Welcome back to another edition of MERCH PARTY – a weekly round-up of all the best band merch comin’ to a venue near you, ’cause supporting your favorite artists in more ways than one is just part of bein’ a good fan! Let’s get into what’s good RIGHT NOW:
November 1st
Baio @ Mercury Lounge
Baio’s gigs (11.1 at Manhattan’s Mercury Lounge, 11.2 at DC’s Anthem, and 11.3 at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre) will officially launch us into November, aka the month of Friendsgivings and the beginning of holiday shopping mode. (HOW IS IT ALREADY THIS POINT IN THE YEAR.) Anyway, you’re going to be experiencing heightened levels of consumerism from now on, be they in the form of cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie or whatever you impulse-buy for your family members to materially demonstrate your affection! My point is that you will have an extra need for this already necessary $15 tote bag, because JUST LOOK AT IT:
Courtney Barnett + Kurt Vile, Jen Cloher @ Beacon Theatre
This tour will stop off in DC at The Anthem on 11.7, too, but regardless of whether or not you make it out to a physical show, you should hundo-percent grab one of these dope patches from Milk Records; half of the proceeds will go towards Minus18, a youth organization that supports LGBTI Australian youth. (And in general, just show a little love for our friends in the Southern Hemisphere waiting to find out if their fellow constituents voted yes or no on marriage equality, yeah? This is a rough couple of weeks for them.)
November 2nd
Alex Napping @ Brooklyn Bazaar
The band will make its way down to DC’s Songbyrd House on 11.3, too, so most definitely take advantage of their merch table, which I would hope would include one of these rad $20 Calvin Klein-inspired dad hats!
November 3rd
Overcoats @ Bowery Ballroom
Overcoats are also at Rock & Roll Hotel in DC on the 10th, but aside from the fleeting thrill of seeing the duo perform live, you can totally keep a little piece of ’em via a very cool, $8, one-of-a-kind Polaroid! I think this is an amazing idea // here’s an example:
November 5th
Stuyeded @ Elsewhere
If I’m being honest, Stuyedeyed’s AMAZING Kendall Jenner no-tip receipt from Baby’s All Right shirt is pretty much the entire reason I started this column in the first place! So it only makes sense that I would tell you to buy that to show your support for the band!
