Welcome back to another edition of MERCH PARTY – a monthly round-up of all the best band merch comin’ to a venue near you, ’cause supporting your favorite artists in more ways than one is just part of bein’ a good fan! Let’s get into what’s good RIGHT NOW:
Whenever I think about Rubblebucket, I just get vibes of PURE JOY! There’s a reason their shows consistently sell out (at least here in NYC), and I imagine that joyous feeling has at least a little to do with it. (You know, in addition to slaying the whole music making thing, which they do.) And do you know what else gives me PURE JOY? This delightful camping mug! Can you not just see yourself sitting near a bunch of plants (outside plants or, in my case, houseplants) and enjoying a cup of coffee or tea?! Grab one for $10! NYC, you’ve got the chance to catch Rubblebucket in BK and in NJ this week. DC and Chicago, you’re gonna have to wait until the fall, but don’t sleep on those tickets due to aforementioned likelihood of sold out situations!
NYC – Public Arts 7.31, Asbury Lanes 8.4
DC – U Street Music Hall 10.27
Chicago – Bottom Lounge 11.17
Cherry Glazerr have some of the strongest enamel pins in the whole GAME, y’all. They’re allegedly all available at shows, so be sure to grab your tickets to see ’em in NYC this week! (DC and Chicago, you’re gonna have to order online for the time being, womp womp.) I seriously cannot with this farting butt ($8) or the pamplemousse La Croix can (also $8):
NYC – Brooklyn Steel 8.1 + 8.2, House of Vans + Rough Trade 8.3
I don’t think I have ever wanted anything more than I want this $17 Screaming Females Lisa shirt. If it were black instead of blue I would be wearing it as we speak. (But alas. Alisa?) The band’ll be playing a gig at Asbury Park in NJ on Friday, but otherwise we’re all gonna have to wait a few months to purchase IRL. (Online is your best bet.)
NYC – House of Independents (Asbury Park) 8.3
Speaking of shirts, this $25 one by Tacocat is FUCKING INCREDIBLE. 100% of sales will be donated to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network), the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization. Ruin ’em all, buddies. Ruin ’em all.
Chicago – The Empty Bottle 8.10
NYC – Rough Trade 8.15
DC – DC9 8.17
I mean…it’s a goddamn $30 CupcakKe pillow. WE NEED IT, DO WE NOT?! Also, direct from the product description: “This CupcakKe Pillow assures to be cumfortable!”
NYC – LPR 8.25
Listen, you guys should know by now that I have to include a seasonally inappropriate article in each one of these posts, and this time it’s a v. minimal black ‘n white long sleeve shirt by Beach House. Simple as hell, cool as hell, and I want it.
NYC – United Palace Theater 8.22, Kings Theatre 8.27, Radio City 9.15 + 9.16 + 9.17
Chicago – Aragon Ballroom 8.5
DC – Merriwether Post Paviolion 9.11
Who’s on tour in NYC, DC and/or Chicago this month w/ dope merch that we missed? TELL US, DUH!
