Not going to Sweetlife Fest? Well there’s no reason not to see some incredible music this Sunday regardless! Springfield, Missouri’s SOMEONE STILL LOVES YOU BORIS YELTSIN come to RNR Hotel to offer you all the indie pop you could desire and more. I promise it’ll be sweet+darling. So we asked the boys to tell us about a few of their new songs and we also have a pair of tickets to giveaway! EXCELLENT.
It was on a Mastercard commercial during American Idol one time.I met the actor from the commercial at one of our shows and he didn’t know that we wrote the song in the background. It was really awkward. Also: we get more emails about the lyrics to this song than any other subject. I still don’t know what he’s singing.
All Hail Dracula!
I got the song name from a Jack Handy short story. I wrote most of the song for my girlfriend. Specifically the line “I’m never breaking up again.” But one reviewer thought it was an “awkward homoerotic song about Dracula.” Oh well.
It’s a song about our hometown minor league baseball team (the Springfield Cardinals). I used to be a janitor at their stadium one summer and I wanted to write a song that would sound huge coming out of the PA system (so I could hear it when I was cleaning the bathrooms). Sometimes the Cardinals’ DJ plays it when the team is being introduced and when they shoot fireworks on Friday nights. This song is probably going to be on a b-sides and rarities album that we release later this year.
But I did mention we have tickets to giveaway, no? Well we do. TO WIN: Just tell us what famous Ruler (of all time!!) you’d write a love letter to and you’ll get to see SSLYBY with a friend! (Winner will be selected on Saturday. Use a real email address when you comment.)
