We began the Dream Jukebox series in 2015. I picked 50 albums perfect for a 100 CD jukebox and had 50 artists and writers I like pick 50 albums. We published entries 00-49 of Volume 2. Leggy continues entries 50-99.

I’ve been enjoying Leggy’s 2016 self-titled album since 2016 thanks to Spotify. (I am one of the few that really like’s Spotify’s algorithms. They work if you know how to use them.) I did not know the album was remastered a year later until this month, when Leggy’s new single, “Eden,” was another one of my suggested songs. The Cincinnati band happens to be coming to D.C. soon and I plan on being there.
The new sound is more dissonant and intimate than the first LP. It’s got a Sonic Youth via Washing Machine era vibe or think Nevermind vs In Utero, so the 2016 record is the one I’d put on the jukebox. It’s full of songs that’ll make people ask, “Who’s this?,” the best question you want to hear after you pick your songs.

61 Lana Del Rey Ultraviolence
The whole album drips like syrup. It conveys the feeling of, “drink up, no judgment, be young, be dumb, be gorgeous, be daring, go for broke”. It’s the kind of album I would put on at closing time at a bar. My favorite song on the album is “West Coast.” Lana GETS me with the slow chorus. It’s a slow burn.
