Kylie’s 12th studio album, Kiss Me Once, dropped just last week and we can’t get enough of (most of) it.  Whether it’s the dance floor pop of “Million Miles,” the Hard Candy-esque “I Was Gonna Cancel,” the white liquid dubstep soaked “Sexercize” or the self-empowering anthem of “Into the Blue,” Kylie showcases tremendous song variety, while also putting her own spin on the typical sound.

That all said, an album is usually only as great as the sum of its parts. That’s why we asked the DJs of CTRL, voted DC’s 2013 Best Men’s Party by Washington Blade readers, to go through the album and rank the songs based on the overall quality and their own personal style.  In order to give you a definitive look at the rankings, we worked some voodoo magic on each individual DJs score to create a weighted ranking to compare and contrast your own feelings toward:

  1. Les Sex
  2. Into the Blue
  3. Million Miles
  4. Sexy Love
  5. Kiss Me Once
  6. I Was Gonna Cancel
  7. If Only
  8. Fine
  9. Sexercize
  10. Feels So Good
  11. Beautiful

Not ranked: “Mr. President” (sorry, girl, we’re only ranking what made the “final” cut).

Overall, “Les Sex” was #1 across the board, receiving a perfect ranking score, while “Beautiful” was panned across the board; everything else was debatable.  Kylie’s second song to have a video from the new album, Sexercize, was one of the most varied from a rank perspective, as was “I Was Gonna Cancel.” Dance music reign supreme while more ballad-focused tracks took a backseat, but that’s mainly because

The CTRL DJs even took to their Facebook page to crowd source an answer for top song, and the hands-down winner was again, “Les Sex.” We like to think that great minds think alike.

At the end of the day, more Kylie is never a bad thing, so whether you think this is the best thing she’s done since “Locomotion,” or that Aphrodite will never be topped, you’ve still got one hell of a great album to listen to from one of gay culture’s most timeless divas.

For some “behind the scenes” info, we’ve also included each DJs individual ranking, some select quotes, as well as preview mixes from the DJs so that you can get a taste of what’s coming this Saturday’s CTRL at Cobalt (HINT: PROBABLY KYLIE)!
