The Kennedy Center’s summer rooftop happy hour series kicked off last Thursday after a day of storms. It could not have looked better. Following multiple hours of rain, hundreds came out to hang out one of the best roofs in D.C., listening to DJs and drinking well priced Port City beers.
While we were there, we took a sneak peek tour of the upcoming REACH, The Kennedy Center’s massive 72,000-square-foot addition opening this September. Scroll through for some behind the scenes photos.
The next three summer rooftop happy hour events are Thursdays, July 11, July 18 and August 1. Based on the success of the first edition, we’re hoping more are added to the series.
The REACH at the Kennedy Center opens September 7 with a 16 day and night, free series of events. The partial schedule has been announced, with some highlights including performances from Flying Lotus, Esperanza Spalding and Thievery Corporation and an outdoor screening of The Muppet Movie.
