It’s a glorious weekend, with plenty to do (including our own Cookies and Cream event Saturday), so here are the tunes you need to get pumped.
Svetlana Legetic
In preparation for eating my weight in carbs tomorrow, a few appropriate songs:
“Sugar On My Tounge” –  Talking Heads
Always a surprisingly effective slow-burner dance jam at parties, also not really about sugar but about drugs, and that’s fine.
“Bananas and Blow” – Ween
This songs starts with these lines, which are reason enough to listen to this song ALWAYS:
“Sancho brought a message from the fat man
Sorry boy, to leave you high and dry
But I went to see my mom in Ensenada
And I left a little something to help the time go by”
That “little something” are the two items in the title, which makes this song not JUST about sugar but also about drugs, and that’s fine too.
“Hunger” – Rhye
In my opinion, this song is so good, I almost cry every time I hear it. It has nothing to do with sugar, and maybe something to do with drugs, but it is perfect despite all that, and the title gives me an excuse to mention it.
Brandon Wetherbee
“Blurred Lines” – Queens of the Stone Age
If you’re going to cover “Blurred Lines” you do not need to know the lyrics. If you’re going to cover “Blurred Lines” you should use bottles of pills as maracas.
Baby Rollerblade Beach Boys Interpretation
This classic jam takes The Beach Boys “I Get Around” and turns it into a much better song about babies rollerblading.
“Goodbye England’s Rose” – Elton John
I hope that when I pass away Elton John writes some new fucking music. Jesus Christ dude, she was your friend! You just changed a few lyrics! LAZY!
That dog misses the Princess.
Jenn Tisdale
“Popsicle” – The Talking Heads
In honor of our fabulous Cookies & Cream Party tomorrow I picked the closest song I could think of that involved sweet treats and that is The Talking Heads’ “Popsicle.” This song is also about summer which makes me sad because summer is almost over. I am not one of those fucking weirdos who loves fall and sweaters and leaves and cold. RIP Summer. You were the best.
Dana Bielberg
Ice Cream Truck Jingle
Ice Cream Truck jingles because well… Cookies and Cream. So familiar. Bringing back pleasant childhood memories. No really, it is the most annoying song ever but Cookies and Cream!!!!!
Brandon Weight
“Chain Hang Low” – Jibbs
Gonna echo Dana here, because every time I hear an ice cream truck I think of the best rap song to ever sample an ice cream truck.
“Runaway (feat. Pusha T) – Kanye West
Baby North West’s lullaby.
Alana Wise
“Smoke Again” – Chance the Rapper ft. Ab-Soul
