Remember the shitshow? The BYT message board was a huge success until it broke and was a lot of fun for a few annoying narcissists. Still, it was not all bad, and we decided that in lieu of our Friday VIDEO OF THE DAY we’re going to start doing  a redux of one of the most popular stupid threads from that wonderful wasteland of time: the pump up jams topic


this is how it works: we asked some of our contributors to tell us what jams are getting them all hot and bothered for the weekend AND THEN-you get to write yours in the comments too. This should result either in an amazing pump up mix, or the biggest disaster ever.

As I’m leaving for London on MONDAY, I can’t help but be inspired by this snap by Hedi Slimane of infamous Englishman and bad boy rocker Pete Doherty.  Slimane is my favorite photographer and I love how he can say so much about a person and the mood with keen attention to detail and monochrome.
As for songs that are prepping me for weekend packing/debauchery….
  • The XX – VCR (Matthew Dear Remix) Cale gifted me this track in a mix this week.  Perfect for dancing in a mirror, trying to figure out what dress to wear for tonight’s Kennedy Center Holiday party (plus, sexy enough to be played after if you catch my drift).
  • The Kills – “Superpowerless” Just tell me the lyrics don’t warrant screaming while chain-smoking cigarettes and trying to hail a cab at 3AM. “Till your drunk, till your high… till your superpowerless”

  • Estelle feat. Kanye – “American Boy” You know I thought this song was finally out of my mind for good, but Philippe (of SILF + FatBack fame) played this jam at a party last night.  It’ll never be gone now!
