If you don’t want Kaepernick on your team you can go choke on a fucking chili dog

Colin Kaepernick is currently without an NFL job because he dared to kneel during the Star Spangled Banner in protest for his support of Black Lives Matter. As of press time, Francis Scott Key could not be reached for comment. It has been widely reported that NFL owners are afraid to sign Kaepernick because they’re old and rich and white or because they are afraid of their fans who are just old and white.

I am a fan of one of the teams that desperately needs Colin Kaepernick. And I have found it odd that I am in the minority when I say, “I want Colin Kaepernick on my team.” When I see polls of fellow Colts fans saying they would boycott the team if he joined (they actually said “NO ONE WANTS THAT MUSLIM LOVING AMERICAN HATER” but you get it!) I think a) you don’t speak for me and b) good riddance, more nachos for me!

Right now, it is unsure if Andrew Luck, the Colts star quarterback, will be ready to play Week 1 or Week 2 or if he’ll be able to play at all. Scott Tolzien is likely to start against the Rams on September 10 and I don’t think I am going out on any limb when I say Colin Kaepernick is a better quarterback than Scott Tolzien. Kaepernick is a better quarterback than any back up in the NFL. Kaepernick is better than some of the starting quarterbacks out there that look like they are starring alongside Keaunu Reeves in The Replacements.

Also, tons of teams already had players kneel for the same cause Kaepernick is fighting for. Antonio Cromartie did so last year before two Colts games. Have any of you boycotted? No. Probably because you wouldn’t boycott or turn over your season tickets or burn an Applebee’s to the ground or whatever you say you’re going to do because you don’t actually have the same backbone that Colin Kaepernick does to stick to something he believes in and lives and fights for every day of his life.

Some fans say they have nothing against Kaepernick but are just against adding any distractions. They’re lying but I’ll indulge them. Colin Kaepernick is a distraction. Luck’s injury is a distraction. Twitter is a distraction. Game of Thrones is a distraction. The cheerleaders are a distraction. My new Colts bucket hat will probably be a distraction. There are a million things that are distractions over the course of an NFL season and we’re not even to the regular season. Last year, the New England Patriots didn’t have Tom Brady, arguably the best football player on Earth, because of a 4 game suspension. Distractions don’t get bigger than that and they still went on to win the Super Bowl. So if you’re an NFL team not built to handle the distraction of a back-up quarterback’s opinions, you’re probably not a very good football team. (I just gave credit to the New England Patriots, that’s how important this is to me.)

This is not a fight about patriotism. It is a fight about racism. I am not unpatriotic because I support Colin Kaepernick. My grandparents met while they were both serving in WWII, my older brother currently serves as an officer in the military and I see the sacrifices him and his family make for him to be able to do serve. I love hot dogs and American Ninja Warrior and fireworks! I am friggin patriotic! And when I see Colin Kaepernick kneeling, I do not feel he is disrespecting my grandparents or my brother. I see him giving a platform for a cause that many have chosen to ignore or pretend isn’t an actual issue. Like it or not, because of Kaepernick we are having a discussion and in that way he is winning.

There are other teams that need him too. The Ravens had Ray Lewis so they can sign Kap. The Dolphins were in Ace Ventura so they should have signed Kap. The NFL is kind of trash. I love it but I also love Arby’s which is kind of trash too. There are at least two, current, starting quarterbacks who were accused of very violent rapes. There are players who have been found guilty of domestic violence and murder. A DUI is basically flicking a booger in the NFL. Yet, the owners and fans have decided to single out a player, with a non-violent history, who wishes to raise awareness for Black Lives Matter and for all of the police brutality that happens in this country. A guy who is using his platform to try and make a better and safer life for millions and is a proven player should always have a place on an NFL roster.

Colin, if you join the Colts, will you sign my bucket hat? It’s really cool!
