What better way to prepare you for an evening of drinking wine at the zoo than by attending happy hours and drinking wine at the best places within a reasonable proximity to the zoo? We are all about serving you the best deals in the most convenient of places before you embark on an evening of getting drunk with a bunch of monkeys (and your friends).

Medaterra

With an extensive list of white, red, and sparkling wines by the glass and by the bottle, Medaterra is hard to beat when it comes to wine selections in the Woodly Park area. Though their wine list is not part of their daily drink specials, you can still pick up some reasonable $8 glasses that are definitely worth trying. They also offer $3 frozen margaritas of all different flavors as well as $5 gin and vodka martinis all day every day. Whatever you choose, Medaterra is sure to get you highly tipsy at a great price before you head to the zoo.

Duke’s Counter

Duke’s Counter nails three amazing happy hour points. First of all, happy hour goes from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily, so you can cut work early and start drinking. Duke’s also has an extensive wines by the glass list including wines from Portugal, South Africa, and France. Most importantly, all wines by the glass are $5 during happy hour, so you can taste several of their unique offerings without breaking the bank. Did I mention that Duke’s is right across the street from the zoo? Swing by and drink all of the wine before you head to the zoo for even more wine.

Bar Civita

At just half a mile from the zoo, Bar Civita is the perfect distance away to beat the zoo foot traffic during happy hour while still being close enough to walk over afterward. Their happy hour wines vary by season, but you can be sure to have whites, reds, rosés, and sparkling wines available year round for just $6 a glass or $20 by the carafe. Draft beers are all available for $6 or less during happy hour, as well as plenty of small plates and snacks. Happy hour begins at 4:30 p.m. and ends at 7:00 p.m. daily, giving you plenty of time to enjoy before Zoo Uncorked.

Indique

Indique offers another extensive list of wines by the bottle and by the glass, and you can even pick up some glasses on happy hour special. Try a South African sauvignon blanc or a California pinot noir (or both) for just $6 a glass. Indique also offers unique cocktails, like the Garam Masala Tonic (with your choice or gin or vodka) and the Mumbai Mule for just $8 during happy hour. Its extensive happy hour offerings are available weekdays from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and its close proximity to the zoo makes Indique a fantastic happy hour destination.
