It’s (almost) Halloween and we’re getting into the spirit. If you’re into weird stories you should read our I’m a Creep, I’m a Weirdo: Baltimore and D.C.’s Most Mysterious Mysteries post. But for this week’s Happy Hour Hotline we’re focusing more on the seemingly unassuming things that spook us the most. Do you have a fear of heights? Does the thought of the suburbs send chills up your spine? Keep reading.

Walters Sports Bar – Go here if you’ve ever walked into a sports bar in the middle of an important game and have muttered the words, “What is this place?” Walters’ has a daily happy hour with $2 off select wine and $4 DC Brau and $3 Powers from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. and from 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. they serve $4 West Coast Drafts.

Roofers Union – This might just be me but whenever I see people at a rooftop restaurant or bar posing carelessly for pictures like they aren’t thinking about how WE’RE ON TOP OF A VERY TALL BUILDING it freaks. me. out. Roofers Union is perfectly scary for anyone who’s afraid of heights (it’s in the name) but if you stand as far away as you can from the ledge you can, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., you can enjoy the view and your drink.

The Bar at the Ritz Carlton – If meticulously decorated hotels that smell like the inside of a Jo Malone store put you on edge, then stop by the Ritz. Their Monday through Friday happy hour goes from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. The menu has $3.50 draft beers, $6 glasses of wine, and “reduced-price” appetizers.

The Tombs – Look down and see Sperrys and then you look up and see Vineyard Vines. That’s when you know you’re in Georgetown. The Tombs is a tried and true college bar so instead of being freaked out by how much alcohol some of these people are consuming, just listen to what they’re saying –  it might be entertaining. The Tombs’ Monday through Friday happy hour goes from 3p.m. – 6 p.m. You can get $3 beer (that’s not just Miller Lite) and some snacks too.

Cafe Deluxe – Someone once told me that if you’re out too late in Bethesda and something happens, no one will hear you scream. Cafe Deluxe still has great drinks and food though. Their 3:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. happy hour has $3 beers, $4 glasses of wine, and $5 cosmos.
