Though Spaceballs‘ Pizza the Hutt might not appear appetizing, the fact that he eats his own flesh speaks to the contrary. In a cannibalistic turn-of-fate, Pizza the Hutt loves to eat pizza. He also always hangs out in some of the Galaxy’s most low-key eateries.
Stop by the following happy hours to grab yourself a slice, hang out, and let the money come to you like Pizza the Hutt does.
Al Dente – Al Dente, situated by American University, offers some of the most decadent pizza in the District. During happy hour, from 4-7 Monday through Friday, sit at the large, square bar to buy a full pizza for just half the price. The restaurant also offers $4 Peroni drafts, $5 glasses of wine from an excellent selection, and $5 house cocktails.
Red Rocks – With a large outdoor patio, summer presents a great opportunity to check out this Columbia Heights staple. Stop by between 4 and 6:30 Monday through Friday for $4 select beers, $5 rail drinks, and $2 off all glasses of wine. There’s also a $7 pomegranate martini, and pizzas and appetizers are discounted as well.
Ghibellina – If you don’t mind shelling out a hefty sum on pizza as long as your saving money on drinks, Ghibellina is well worth the try. The cheapest pie runs $13, but the upside is that there’s a happy hour every day at the bar from 4-6:30.
Mellow Mushroom – Yeah, its a national chain with locations scattered generously throughout the country, but so what? The pizza is great (especially if you like lots of toppings and fluffy crust) and the lengthy happy hour lasts from 3-7 Monday through Friday. Happy hour discounts include $2 off all drafts, $4 rails, and $4 bruschetta.
Acacia Bistro – This upscale wine bar lacks pizza per-se, but during happy hour you can order a mouth-watering flatbread for just $8. The happy hour spans from 4-6:30 every day and offers an extensive discounted menu which includes entrées as well as mid-shelf liquor.
