Last week we brought you a Pope themed Happy Hour Hotline that was full of wine and more wine. This week we’re celebrating the fact that Bentzen Ball is just around the corner (October 1 – 4 to be exact) so we’re giving you a list of places to get cheap booze while enjoying some stand up comedy. Every show is free of a cover charge so you can spend as much or as little as you want (!!).

MondaysJackpot’s Monday night open mics are presented by Silver City Comedy and start at 8:30 p.m. Early enough for a Monday and therefore a reason to convince your friends to stay an extra 30 minutes past the 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. happy hour.  They have $2 off all drafts too.

Tuesdays  – The Bier Baron’s Tuesday nights according to our Open Mic Guide, are an “opportunity to see old comics work out new bits, and new comics work on their nerves. Sometimes you’ll laugh with the comics, sometimes you’ll laugh at them; you’re likely to have a good time.” The show starts at 8 p.m.  and happy hour specials go from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Wednesdays – The Last Resort Comedy open mic at Town Tavern starts at 8 p.m. and the happy hour runs from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. Drink specials include $3 Domestic Bottles $4 Mixed Rails $5 All Draft Pints $5 House Wines. You’re not expected to remember that, so just go and have fun.

Thursdays -The Science Club’s Thursday night open mic starts at 8:30 p.m. and according to our Open Mic Guide, the show is in “an intimate but packed room, where the drinks are poured fast and the comedy is real.” Their happy hour goes from 4:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. during which you can test your own stand up routine on your friends, hopefully you’re funnier when you’re drunk.

FridaysFriday shows at the Big Hunt in Dupont Cricle are always free after 10 p.m. but you want to get there even earlier, Joe Zimmerman is performing at 8 p.m. with tickets at $5 a piece.  If you’re looking for something to do before 8 p.m., there are some pretty great specials on drinks and food from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. With $3 you can get PBR, Lite Ass Brew, Big Ass Wheat, Hard Ass IPA, Bad Ass Amber, and any Rail Drink. But more importantly, the tacos go for $1.

Sundays – Columbia Heights’ Wonderland Ballroom Sunday night show starts at 7 p.m. and happy hour goes from 4 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Get $2 off rail drinks and waver on the line of what kind of tipsy it’s acceptable to be on a Sunday night.
