You might have missed it, not sure how you could, but Comet Ping Pong has a lot happening and not happening. It’s got conspiracy theories and people doing horrible things to investigate those conspiracies. We #StandWithComet, and think you should too, so here are 5 spots in the general area to grab a drink before grabbing a pizza.
Jake’s American Bistro, which houses basement bar Jake’s Boiler Room, is 187 ft from Comet. It doesn’t get much better than that. They offer regular bar food staples and frequently have specials on wings. Happy Hour runs from 4-7 p.m. on week days with $4 draft beers, rail drinks and house wines, giving you plenty of time to grab a drink before heading over for some pizza.
Located in Friendship Heights, Lia’s offers a pretty extensive happy hour. In addition to alcohol specials like $9.50 34 oz super mugs of draft beer, they also serve happy hour pizzas like the classic Straight Up or the decadent Wild Mushroom. Pizza, just like the specialty food of Comet. Happy Hour runs from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesdays and all day on Mondays and Tuesdays. Perfect for an all day booze and pizza fest
Chads is right by the Friendship Heights Metro and is a place my dad really likes. It’s got that typical dad bar vibe, in that it’s clean and has dark wood. Their happy hour runs for various hours throughout the week in addition to the standard 4 – 7 p.m. and is cheaper than anything else I’ve seen around D.C. Domestic long necks go for $2.95, as do house wines and rail drinks. That’s crazy. Almost as crazy as Hillary Clinton being a part of a child prostitution ring run out of a pizza place.
Macon Bistro’s food menu is a southern twist on French foods and they offer an assortment of fancy cocktails in addition to an assortment of beers and wines. It’s located a few blocks up Connecticut Ave from Comet, and offers happy hour from 5 to 7.
Another option a quick jog up Connecticut, Blue 44 serves up New American food right up the street from new American icon, Comet. Grab a comfort food classic like skillet mac and cheese, cheese steak or ratatouille to keep your stomach full and grab a beer to keep your brain occupied
