Is there a better way to get ready for a night of eating and drinking at the zoo than by eating and drinking at bars first? Probably not. If you’re going to be hanging out with fish later, you better learn to drink like one. Take advantage of some Woodley Park and Adams Morgan happy hours before Zoofari. Do it for the animals.
Start your day of food and drink off early. Happy hour begins at noon at Duke’s Counter. Enjoy $5 beers, wines, and well liquors until 7 p.m. That’s seven hours of happy hour deals. Seven. Hours. This is just the first stop on your Boozefari adventure.
Beer and mussels go together like you and Zoofari. Swing by St. Arnold’s before the event for $5 half-liters of draft beers. $11 mussel pots and fries make for a great appetizer to soak up some of the drinks. Just saying. Come back on Monday and Tuesday for happy hour specials all night long. Regular happy hour runs 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
SoHo in AdMo offers $5 beers, rail drinks, and select wines between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Nothing goes better with a glass of sauvignon blanc than some hummus or fried green tomatoes. It’s okay to act like an animal. Southern proper doesn’t count during happy hour, right?
Imagine happy hour, but every single day of the week. Grab your Zoofari crew, pop a squat on the patio, and relax with $20 carafes of wine anytime between 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. If wine isn’t your thing, all draft beers are $6 or under. You’re probably also going to need a few orders of their $4 pecorino-oregano fries with a side of lemon parmesan aioli.
If you like whiskey, this is the happy hour for you. From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., you can count on $5 whiskey of the day, $4 off cocktails, and $2 off draft beers. Get fancy with a julep or sip on a Sazerac and mentally prepare for a night of more food, more drinks, and a lot more exotic animals.
