DC Bike Ride is on the 22nd, and we’re ready for any excuse to partake in activities that have to be done in the outdoors. So for this week’s Happy Hour Hotline, we’re recommending bars that are in the most bike friendly neighborhoods of D.C. (think Logan Circle, U Street, and Capitol Hill). Is there really such a thing as a bike friendly neighborhood? We’ll make it a thing. Enjoy! But please, don’t drink (too much) and ride.
Black Whiskey is comfortable. It has billiards and either a live band or a DJ supplying you with ample tunes. It’s ideal for a casual happy hour. Get $1 off drafts, $8 specialty cocktails, $8 PBR and Rye Shot, and $5 well cocktails. Happy Hour goes from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.everyday of the week.
Bar Pilar has outdoor seating. Whether or not the weather will hold up long enough for you to be able to sit outside is unclear, but life is unpredictable (!!) and that’s partly why we drink in the first place. Happy hour at Bar Pilar goes from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on weekends. Get $5 daiquiris, $5 all drafts, and $5 wines and champagne. And for $3-$12, you have your pick of snacks ranging from fried chicken sliders to grilled calamari.
More outdoor seating! If you look closely in the below picture you’ll see a bike rack, so A+ to Café Saint-Ex for being bike friendly. You can enjoy the outdoor seating when it isn’t happy hour but if you make it there during the window of time between 4 p.m. – 7 p.m., you can score $5 glasses of wine, $2 off beers, and specially priced appetizers.
Get $5 glasses of select wines and $5 Peroni Nastro Azzurro. The memories you’ll make during a game of bocce ball, however, are priceless. Priceless I said! Happy hour at Vinoteca goes from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. all week long. And as you can imagine, the wine selection is endless and/or overwhelming. Ask for a recommendation.
Half priced oysters, $4 draft beers, $5 cocktails, $4 glasses of wine, $5 sangria, and $3 small bites and dips make the happy hour at Cava Mezze so great. Make sure you go between 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. on a weekday. Also make sure you tell whoever you’re meeting there to go to the Capitol Hill location. There’s a rooftop deck AND outdoor seating at this one.
