Everyone has at least one questionable obsession, and anyone who knows me, knows that my obsession is pizza. If I had to eat one item of food for the rest of my life, it would be pizza. Hands down. There is so much you can do with it: so many options for sauce, different variations of cheese, and do not even get me started with toppings. It is so versatile, even when you have bad pizza, its still satisfying. I have met few people in my life who say they do not like pizza, and I don’t trust those people. There are very few things in this world that are better than pizza, that’s why I want to make this week’s Happy Hour Hotline in honor of all the cheap pizza specials out there in the District. You guys are the real MVPs of the work week.

ELLA’S WOOD FIRED PIZZA

A good friend of mine showed me Ella’s when I first moved to D.C. four years ago, and their pizza has held a special place in my heart. They offer happy hour specials Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and specials include $1 off all American drafts, $3.50 glasses of sangria, and $7 seven-inch pizzas. Their warm and saucy wood-fired pizzas will make you forget all about your troubles. Pizza doesn’t question, pizza understands.

RADIUS PIZZA

If you’re meandering around the Columbia Heights or Mount Pleasant area, make a pit stop to Radius Pizza on your way home from work this week. Radius Pizza offers happy hour Monday through Friday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Happy hour specials include $4 drafts/ rail drinks/ wine, $5 off pitchers/ small bites, and $3 over-sized slices. THREE DOLLHAIRS FOR A LARGE SLICE OF PIZZA. Have you ever heard of anything more beautiful (yes, free pizza, but this is almost as good)?

PIZZERIA PARADISO

Pizza Paradiso sounds like the kind of place where I would like to live. They have multiple locations, in DuPont, Georgetown, and Old Town Alexandria. The Georgetown location has happy hour Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Their specials include $4 draft beers, $6 apps, and $12 small pizzas. Nothing cures workday blues like cheap pizza and even cheaper beer.

ALPHONSE ITALIAN MARKET & OSTERIA

In addition to pizza, I really love champagne. And Alphonse has both of those things on their happy hour menu. Alphonse has happy hour Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.. Their specials include $3 drafts of Peroni, $5 Prosecco/Pinot/Sangiovese/Antipasti, $6 fried oysters, and $10 Margherita pizzas. Keep the champagne and pizza coming, I am not satisfied yet.

BLACK JACK

I don’t usually go towards the U Street area to drink unless its past 11 p.m. on Saturday, but I would make an exception for cheap pizza and booze. Black Jack offers happy hour from 3 p.m. t0 12:30 a.m. (Sunday) and from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. (Monday through Friday). Specials include half off beer drafts, $5 glasses of wine, and half off pizza. Half the price, all of the wine/beer/scrumptious pizza.
