Opening day is less than a week. The Nats are playing against the Braves next Monday in Atlanta, giving ourselves a few extra days to get acquainted with the happy hour specials around Nats Park/Navy Yard before next Thursday’s home opener.
The weekday happy hour at Willie’s Brew & Que starts at 4 p.m. and lasts until 7 p.m. During that time you can get any draft pint for $5, any pitcher for $20, and a glass of Cabernet or Chardonnay for $5. Onto the Que part of Brew & Que. You can get a BBQ sandwich, chips, slaw, and soda for $10 as well as a house salad with chicken, pork, or tofu, and a soda for $10 during happy hour.
Monday through Friday happy hour at The Big Stick goes from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. Get $4 draft beers, rail liquors, and house wines and $2 off all appetizers. There are also nightly specials on Monday and Tuesday from 5 p.m. to close that get you 50 cent wings with any beer and half price wine bottles. The drink menu is big and kind of overwhelming but gives you plenty of options for how you want to best utilize those happy hour deals. Disclaimer: there are shot skis. Bonus: there are shot skis.
From 4pm-7pm The Ugly Mug has $4 drafts and $4 rail drinks. Their happy hour food menu has pepperoni rolls and pizza for $8, mozzarella sticks for $6, and pretzel sticks for $6.
Expect a sporty crowd at Gordon Biersch. Happy hour at Gordon Biersch goes from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. on weeknights and then again from 10 p.m. to close. The weekday happy hour at Justin’s Cafe runs from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. and has a lot of specials that I’m going to list off starting now: $3 draft beers, $4 rail liquor, $5/6 Firefly Vodka cocktails, and $4 house wine by the glass. The prices of the drinks go up a dollar with every one to two hours until 8 p.m. so get those deals while the prices are low, everybody. Justin’s also has a pretty extensive food menu with pizzas, salads, and soups to help soak up all that alcohol – you know, to help make room for more.
Agua 301 probably isn’t the place that you think about visiting if you’re on the way to Nats Park but hey, that might be a good thing. The daily happy hour goes from 3:30 p.m. – 7 p.m., which means $4 draft beers, $5 glasses of wine, and $6 cocktails. Agua 301 also has a lot of happy hour appetizer options that all go for $6. We’re talking chicken and/or beef empanadas, chicken tostadas, chipotle mussels, and Mexican style flat bread.
