This is the first time in about twenty years that DC Dog Days has been faced with a majorly large-scale setback (aka a pandemic), but the organizers weren’t going to accept defeat when preparing for this year’s August 8th and 9th dates; instead, they very ingeniously decided to go virtual this weekend! District Bridges is partnering with DC Shop Small to take the MidCity Dog Days sidewalk sale online, and they’ll be expanding the participating DC neighborhoods, too.
Many of the businesses involved will be offering special sales, gifts with purchase, discounts and more, which just sweetens the shop local deal. And there are loads of different places to support! We’re talking clothing, hardware, art, pet supplies, food and drink, beauty, wellness, even non-profits! You can peruse the full list of participating institutions via the website to plan out your shopping accordingly.
This is an especially important year to support local small businesses, so we hope you will! (Even if you’re not personally in the financial position, just sharing the news to boost awareness is a big help.)
