In collaboration with 65+ local and national organizations, influencers and networks, The Palm Collective has launched a series of events which are happening as part of “The March on Washington” Week of Protest Actions.

“As a DC COLLECTIVE, we continue to invest in outreach and protest actions to ENSURE our CORE FOUR DEMANDS for Mayor Muriel Bowser & the DC Council are put into immediate action. These CORE FOUR DEMANDS are focused on urgent, tangible change that will transform our community today, and society for future generations,” TPC stated in a press release.

Chuck Modi: Movement Journalism 101

Date: Wednesday, August 26
Time: 5:00pm
Purpose: OUTREACH & EDUCATION
Location: GWU Outdoor Campus, 2004 G St NW
Description: “A brief intro and discussion about movement journalism on the frontlines of protesting and the FREE course to be rolled out in September. Chuck Modi, lifelong movement journalist and local DC protest frontlines influencer, will be holding four 1 hour long online classes during the month of September to educate and unite local and national frontline protestors/ social media influencers and journalists to ensure that we create our own News cycle that reflects the truth about what happens on the frontlines.”

D.C. Police Reform Commission

Date: Wednesday, August 26
Time: 6:00pm – 7:00pm

Purpose: EDUCATION & DC OFFICIALS ACCOUNTABILITY
Description:”The purpose of the Commission is to examine policing practices in the District and provide evidence-based recommendations for reforming and revisioning policing in the District. Procedures that will govern the Commission’s proceedings, the schedule, topics for future meetings, and other matters will be discussed. This event is open to the public. We need the local DC community to hold our officials accountable and ensure that the Core Four Demands are met.”

Ride on Washington w/DC Bike Party (DCBP)

Date: Wednesday, August 26
Time: 7:30pm – Pulling off 8:00pm sharp
Location: DuPont Circle
Purpose: PROTEST ACTION
Description: “Local Bike Clubs and those coming to attend the March on Washington are welcome to engage in the Ride on Washington. The event will end at Freedom Plaza after a 9 mile ride, where riders will be met with donated food, music and the opportunity to connect in a safe social distancing environment. All bike riders are welcome to ride in solidarity for the movement for Black lives.”

Power to the People Rally for Workers Rights w/TCOEW and Chris Smalls

Date: Thursday, August 27
Time: Noon 12:00pm
Location: 2320 S St. NW – Bezo’s $23M DC Mansion
Purpose: PROTEST ACTION
Description: “TCOEW and Chris Smalls are rallying against Bezos/Amazon for workers rights. We ask that you join us in solidarity, for Amazon workers and all exploited workers across the globe.”

Purpose Party II

Date: Thursday, August 27
Time: 7:30pm
Purpose: CONNECTION/CAPACITY BUILDING
Location: BLM Plaza, intersection of 16th St NW and H st NW, near 1525 H St NW
Description: “An open air social distancing event of connection for local DC orgs and organizations from all over the country that have come to unite for the March on Washington. A space to showcase the resistance art that has come out of the DC Protest Frontlines, and to connect as a community of organizers from all over DC and the country. Food and beverages will be served.”

DC Undivided | March on Washington Collective Action Protest

Date: Friday, August 28
Time: 9:30am meetup, 10 am Leave
Location: Human Rights Campaign Building, 1640 Rhode Island Ave NW
Purpose: PROTEST ACTION
Description: “Join the DC/DMV Collective Action Protest of local DMV orgs as we stand together in solidarity and head to the March on Washington. We will gather at the HRC Building at the corner of 17th St NW and Rhode Island Ave NW and then head to the Lincoln Memorial/the Reflection Pool.”

HBCU March of the Generations

Date: Saturday, August 29
Time: 12:30pm
Location: Banneker Recreation Center, 2500 Georgia Ave NW
Purpose: PROTEST ACTION
Description: “March from Banneker to NMAAHC. In partnership with Long Live GoGo, The Live Movement Presents HBCU March of the Generations and Demands For Us! Demands by Us:
1) Support economically disadvantaged students through a title IV (Pell Grant) Increase.
2) Support Historically Black Colleges & Universities via endowments funded by private sector corporations, earmarked for scholarship use only.
3) Build the high-school to HBCU pipeline by incorporating Afro-American Studies Courses into the public school curriculum.”
