Here we go! The comedy festival I help run, The Comedy Exposition, returns to Chicago next weekend, July 21-24th, and it’s time we take a moment to appreciate the work of our very exciting headliner Greg Proops. You might recognize Greg from his tenure on the short form improv sensation of the 1990s Whose Line Is It Anyway? or from his hugely popular podcast The Smartest Man In The World. He’s got a singular onstage persona and a wide-ranging shaggy dog approach to standup. You can see him here in Chicago on Sunday, July 24th at Lincoln Hall! If you’ve never seen him do stand up before, here’s a clip from a few years back:

As I’m sure we can all agree, Greg’s just as great on the fly as he is doing prepared material. Let’s watch Greg mix his improv and standup skills here, in this performance on LA’s improvised standup show Setlist.

Greg released his first book, The Smartest Book In The World, last year. It’s part podcast spinoff, part reference book, and all very funny and good. Here’s a segment from CBS This Morning where he talks about it!

My man Greg’s got good taste in music, as evidenced by this installment of Amoeba Music’s What’s In My Bag? webseries. He talks jazz, carnivorous Canadian rock from the ‘70s, and the essentials of Yanni.

Before we go, let’s watch Greg take over the D.C. news, delivering a full weather report, sharing tips on where “giant green clouds” will be gathering over the following day. Thanks, Greg! See you next Sunday!
