- Monday, March 9Â – Journey to Space 3D is still at Lockheed Martin Imax Theater. Admission to the museum free, the film is $9.
- Wednesday, March 11 – Mt. Pleasant Library will be hosting a free showing of Nora Ephron’s Silkwood. It’s got Meryl Streep in it, who doesn’t love Meryl Streep?
- There are also TONS of new shows on Netflix and Amazon, which are not only free (if you have a membership), but don’t even require leaving your couch. Win-win.
- Tuesday, March 10Â – It’s Annie’s Second Annual Ladies Night! Come celebrate the fine lady run businesses of Petworth. They’ll be a free bike workshop and so many other things.
- Tuesday, March 10 – Two acclaimed classical guitarists, Romero Lubambo and Hernan Romero, will be preforming on the Millennium Stage. Thanks, Kennedy Center.
- Wednesday, March 11 – The Summercamp Show returns to The Wonderland Ballroom. It’s a comedy show with that summercamp feel so grab your kayaks and go. Don’t forget to bring a pen and paper to write home to your folks.
- Thursday, March 12Â – The Living Room Live series at the Ritz-Carlton this week for “Women in Arts” have an exclusive concert by DDENDYL. Happy women’s month everybody!
- Thursday, March 13Â – Great Peacock–a folk band name if I’ve heard one–will be playing a free show at Hill Country BBQ. Why not welcome in spring with music and BBQ?
- Thursday, March 13– At Press Play’s St. Patrick’s Day themed show not only will they be giving you comedy, music, and storytelling. They’ll also be giving everyone a free scratch-off lottery ticket–this could be your day!
- Thursday, March 5 – Dance yourself silly to the electro-pop of Verite at DC9. The cover is only $10.
- Friday, March 13 – If you missed it last week, or if you didn’t miss it and never miss it, BYT’s own Brandon Wetherbee will be hosting 8×8 at the Black Cat, with guests Champagne Fever, Andrew Bucket, Isaac Hirsch, Diane Ivey, and many more. It’s $10. Which is not free, but is sorta close to it.
- Sunday, March 15 – At the Petworth Citizen Reading Room come for a special night of Barrelhouse Presents Barrelhouse Presents Magic Helicopter Press and FC2. The reading will feature Jordan Stempleman representing Magic Helicopter and Ryan McDonald representing FC2. And if any of that means something to you, then you should probably be there.
- Forever? –Â If you sign up for Blue Apron subscription, you get two free meals. That’s a steal people.
- Tuesday, March 10 – If you’re already in Silver Spring what’s your excuse for not stopping by Denizens for trivia night.
- Friday, March 13 – DC Sip offers you some wines to try and discounted bottle to take home at Paul’s Wine and Spirits.
- Friday – Tuesday, March 13-17 – We’d like to warmly welcome back the Shake Shack’s When Irish Fries Are Smiling crinkle-cut fries. They’re fries with bacon, what’s not to like?
- Saturday, March 14 – More a party than free food, Chief Ike’s is hosting an almost shamrock fest. But print out a flyer and get a free beer. Hey, that’s something.
- Monday, March 9Â – The Hill Center and PEN/Faulkner Presents: Author Brando Skyhorse. There’s sure to be some awesome elbow patches in this crowd.
- Wednesday, March 12Â – Poetry Out Loud will take place at the University of District of Columbia’s Theatre of the Arts. The competition starts at 7:00 PM and will feature performances by local artists and arts organizations.
- Friday, March 14Â – Barre3Â could be the next big workout craze, and you can do it for free at Union Market.
- Friday, March 13Â – Literally entitled the Thank You Friend’s on Facebook Project, this D.C. Arts Center exhibition is opening this Friday. Don’t you like it when art is appreciative of its viewer.
- Saturday, March 14Â – The absolutely terrific and free Smudge Comic Arts Expo is this weekend at the Artisphere. This is exciting news.
- Sunday, March 15 – Come celebrate the Nowruz festival, a Persian New Year celebration, at John Carlyle Square Park. They’ll be all kinds of cultural stuff going on, but it’s all about that Persia food court. Know what I’m saying?
- Sunday, March 15 – Today is the day of the D.C. St. Patrick’s Day parade. Parades are freest of events.
- Saturday-Sunday, March 14-15 – There’s going to be a big ass book sale at SW D.C. Public Library, and I can’t be the only one excited about it.
