  • Wednesday, October 7 – Starting this Wednesday, the guys who brought us Capital City Showcase are presenting Fun Fun at 121: A Variety Open Mic (!!). This is happening at Acre 121 in Columbia Heights.
  • Wednesday, October 7Teen Mom, Yairms, and Rom are performing at 453 Florida Ave.
  • Thursday, October 8 – D.C. band Br’er is having an album release show at The Pinch. It’s $7 (that’s less than your monthly Netflix fee) at the door and Pleasures and EvilArtForm will also be there.
  • Friday, October 9 – This is the 8th Comedy on the Table’s show highlighting female comics. Send Facebook invites to the people you stopped being friends with because they said women aren’t funny.
  • Friday, October 9Fringe Music in the Library presents Boat Burning at the Martin Luther King J. Memorial Library.
  • Saturday, October 10Lower Dens and Beverly are playing at the Brooklyn Brewery. If you RSVP now tickets are free. An incentive to RSVP is that you can spend the money you saved on tickets on fancy beer. It’s okay to be a tool sometimes.


  • Saturday, October 10CMPVTR_CLVB is playing at the Black Cat with Exaktly, Dreamcast, Nag Champa, Sex God, Maximilian, St. Clair Castro, and Imersia. Tickets are $7.
  • Saturday, October 10Nerd Nite is happening at DC9. There will be talks on the following subjects:the science of the dead, bad website design, and the ecology of littering. Sexy.
  • Saturday, October 10Sean Nicholas Savage, Promise Keeper, and Go Cozy are all performing at the Paperhaus. Go find some new music.



  • Tuesday, October 6 – Local 16 is hosting its Storyteller’s Happy Hour on its rooftop starting at 6:30 p.m.
  • Friday, October 9 – The Bonaroo of food truck festivals (guessing that’s where they got the name from), Truckaroo is a day long event which will be attended by some of the city’s best food trucks. It’s also conveniently the day before Taste of D.C.
  • Saturday, October 10 – It’s Taste of D.C. Woo! Go and eat a lot of food.


  • Sunday, October 11 Alice Waters is coming to Politics and Prose and she’s going to talk about her book, My Pantry: Homemade Ingredients That Make Simple Meals Your Own and other food related things.

  • Tuesday, October 6 – The Queen Vic’s weekly “A Right Royal Pub Quiz” night starts on the 6th and goes until December 22nd. The prize for being a true Loyalist is a trip for 2 to Dublin.
  • Tuesday, October 6Stolen Beauty, one of the several plays that are part of The Women’s Voices Theater Festival, is a hybrid story of art history and the learning of life lessons.
  • Wednesday, October 7 – The Phillips Collection is hosting a panel discussion on Music and Art Entrepreneurship. No confirmation on whether or not there will be a case study of Kanye’s career.


  • Saturday, October 10Do the Loop is a free tour of some of D.C.’s best local art museums and galleries. The tour starts at the American University Museum and ends at Washington Printmakers. I’m betting that this is will get you around D.C. more efficiently than any Metro Bus ever will.
  • Saturday, October 10 – The Greenbelt Rhythm and Drum Festival is a day long event revolving around you guessed it, drumming.
