- September 8 – Get yourself a healthy dose of the Cohen brothers because Burn After Reading is playing in Georgetown.
- September 8 – Busboys and Poets in Brookland is screening the PBS doc Latino Americans, and then following it up with a discussion led by Dr. Olivia Cadaval of the Smithsonian Folklife Festival.
- September 11 – The curators of Kennedy Center’s ‘Finding A Line’, Jason Moran and Ben Ashworth, as well as Chief Skate Ambassador Jimmy Pelletier, skateboarders Natalie Krishna Das and Ron Allen, and Woodward Digital Media Director Dave Metty are screening all their favorite skating videos! And talking about them! Gnarly.
- September 12 – For those of us that have the means / time to drive all the way to Ellicott City, MD, The Wine Bin is showing The Godfather.
- September 13 – If you’ve always wanted to learn more about contemporary Iran, get excited because the Freer and Sackler Galleries are showing two of Bahman Kiarostami’s movies about Iran, The Treasure Cave and Statues of Tehran.
- September 8 – Mothers is playing at DC9. They have a great band name. I’m sure it will probably be fun.
- September 8 – As a part of the Kennedy Centers ‘Finding A Line’ series, Darren Harper’s The Dynasty Band is playing on the Millennium stage.
- September 8 – The Labor Day celebrations are not over. Black Cat is throwing The Workers Party with DJ’s Justin Gellerson and Matt Cohen. Party it up for the proletariat.
- September 9 – Craving some ska? The Chariots are playing the Kennedy Center!
- September 9 – It’s the Black Cat’s anniversary! Head on over to see DJ’s Tim Kelly, Dante Ferrando, and more spin their favorite songs.
- September 9 – The Summer Camp Show is back at the Wonderland Ballroom.
- September 10 – DJ Harry Hotter is taking over Den of Thieves. Get drunk and get down.
- September 10 – Baby Bry Bry, Tall Juan, and more are playing at Babe City. This will be fun.
- September 10 – Still not tired of the Kennedy Center’s newfound skateboarding obsession? Then swing on by to see The Pedrito Martinez Group.
- September 10 – The FINAL Dream Jukebox of 2015 is at the Looking Glass Lounge.
- September 10 – The North Country plays at the Luce. Go if you like rock and roll and art and stuff.
- September 11 – Get drunk and dance on the cheap at DC9’s Discnotheque. What else could you possible want?
- September 12 – Do you feel the NEED to dance to 90’s hip hop and pop songs? Then the Black Cat has got your back.
- September 12 – It’s Nerd Nite at DC9! Go learn things!
- September 13 – June Star and Andy Bopp are at Galaxy Hut. Bopp is a great last name.
- September 13 –Â Are you a teen that just loves to skate? Hit up the Kennedy Center for an open skate session and performances by Chain & the Gang and Prince Rama.
- Saturday-Monday, September 5-8Â – The Town Tavern asks you to take a staycation this Labor Day Weekend. Saturday there’s an open bar from 8-10 P.M. Sunday funday there’s $5 Bloody Marys & Mimosas until 5 P.M. On Monday is complete madness with $3 bottles, $5 drafts and 1/2 selected bites all day until 9 P.M.
- September 12 – Art and food are coming together at the Strathmore. See portraits of chefs and then eat some of their food. It’s a win win.
- September 12 – If you love drinking then you should probably go check out D.C.’s Wine Fest at Eastern Market. There will be fancy booze and you can pretend that you are a fancy alcoholic instead of the regular kind.
- September 12 – Watch some of your favorite food trucks battle to be the BEST at the Curbside Cookoff.
- All September Long – Want some free meat? Logan’s Sausage Company is giving out free variety packs to anyone who takes a picture of one of their trucks and sends it to their Facebook or Twitter.
- September 8 – 12 – CityDance in Tenleytown is offering free dance classes during their open house. If you’re looking to start learning Jazz, hip hop, or ballet for free, then this may be your best bet.
- September 9 – The Embassy of Sweden is throwing a 1940’s Hollywood themed party in honor of the legendary Ingrid Bergman. Pia Lindstrom, Bergman’s daughter, is even going to be there. Which could be awkward or it could be awesome. Hopefully it’s awesome.
- September 9 – 12 – UMD’s NextNOW festival is at The Clarice. If you like art and music and not paying for either of those things you will probably have a good time.
- September 11 – Grab some cheap drinks at watch some Star Trek at the Black Cat’s Ten Forward happy hour.
- September 12 – If you like doing weird suburban stuff in the city then D.C.’s State Fair will be perfect for you. There’s going to be a pet parade and a crochet contest. Get turnt.
- September 12 – 26 – G40 art summit (presented by Art Whino) is taking over H Street for the next couple weeks leading up to Art All Night. There’s going to be so much art you’re not going to be able to handle it.
- September 12 – The Kreeger museum is having an open house with live music, outside art activities (whatever that means), and food trucks galore. Go do arty shit.
- September 13 – (Un) Adams Morgan Day is actually happening. Go do the thing.
