- Outdoor movie season continues. Be sure to consult our Outdoor Movie Guide. Promise me you will.
- Tuesday, September 1 – The Black Cat is screening Romantic Warriors: Canterbury Tales, a roc-doc about those oddball mid-sixties avant-grade rock groups from Canterbury, namely Soft Machine, Caravan and Gong.
- Wednesday, September 2 –Â Tangled will be screening in Alexandria. Which is cool because everyone loves Disney movies. Everyone.
- Thursday, September 3– The Sound of Music will close up the outdoor movie season at the Capitol Riverfront.
- Friday, September 4 –Â A screening of Ghostbusters will begin Columbia Heights outdoor movie season. A little late to the game there Columbia Heights, but we’re still cool.
- Sunday, September 6 – It’s viewer’s choice night at the National Harbor. And the viewer have chosen, the winner is Remember the Titans. If you don’t like it, tough tits, that’s democracy for you.
- Wednesday September 2Â – Bust Off, Husky Bundles, Permanent Makeup and Nuclear Age will be at Electric Maid
- Thursday, September 3 – Bosley will be backstage at the Black Cat. The opening act is M.H. & His Orchestra. This’ll no doubt be a delightfully evening, especially if you like white dudes singing soul.
- Friday, September 4 –  You, Me, Them, Everybody Live is happening at the Wonderland Ballroom. Come see Brandon Wetherbee and his friends talk, laugh and just be plain entertaining.
- Friday, September 4 – Sick Fix, Leather Daddy, Exit Order, Sedative @ Studio 69. Leather Daddy is one hell of a band name.
- Friday. September 4 –Â THE GODZ, Chain and the Gang, Metrorail, Tomato Dodgers @ The Void. You should try to see Chain and the Gang every chance you get.
- Friday, September 4 – Beauty Pill, Paperhaus, Redline Graffiti @ Black Cat. Tickets for only $12.
- Friday, September 4 – I like Ezra Mae & The Gypsy Moon, and you should too. See Ezra plus Chris Santa Ana, Gender Studies (NYC) @ the Pinch.
- Friday, September 4 – Noisem, Condemn The Infected, Ragana, Correspondences, Ampallang Infection @ Raw Ink Tattoo Studio. That’s right, it’s a concert in a tattoo parlor.
- Friday, September 4 – DC9 is hosting a discnothque. “The idea of Discnothèque is to remove yourself from the constant barrage of every day life and reconnect the music,” says DC9. Which is a nice way of saying, the point is to get turnt up and dance.
- Saturday, September 5 – If you have some leftover drugs from the Discnotheque, DC9 is hosting another dance party. This time its called Rapture
- Saturday, September 5 – Above the bayou hosts its 1 year anniversary (boy, doesn’t time just fly) with performances by Princess Reason, Half Waif, CrushnPain and Pisca.
- Saturday, September 5 – Color Palette, Louis Weeks, The Duskwhales, +TBA @ Baxter BLDG.
- Saturday, September 5 – Cigarette, Olivia Neutron-John, Pill (NY), Lugweight (RVA) @ Studio 69

- Monday, September 7 – Babe City Record is at it again. They’re putting on another dope show, this time with Big Hush, Advaeta and Two Inch Astronaut @ 453 FLORIDA AVEÂ
- Thursday, September 3Â – Station Kitchen & Cocktails is giving away free french toast. I don’t care if you prefer waffles or pancakes, we’re talking free french toast people. How amazing is that?
- Saturday-Monday, September 5-8Â – The Town Tavern asks you to take a staycation this Labor Day Weekend. Saturday there’s an open bar from 8-10 P.M. Sunday funday there’s $5 Bloody Marys & Mimosas until 5 P.M. On Monday is complete madness with $3 bottles, $5 drafts and 1/2 selected bites all day until 9 P.M.
- GO TO THE POOL!!! They’re still operating with summer hours because it’s still summer and why is it this hot in September?
- Thursday September 3Â – At the Museum of Women in the Arts, come here artists talk about the influence Maria Sibylla Merian had on their own work. The program is entitled: Artist Conversation: Merian’s Daughters.
- Friday, September 4 – It’s first Friday this week which means that gallery all over Dupont Circle will be hosting openings of all kinds.Â
- Friday, September 4 – Phazefest is back at 9:30. If you don’t know what Phazefest is its a festival featuring D.C.’s queer music. YasQueen will be there. Bet there’s a few of you out there that wish you too could be called Yas Queen. Â
- Friday September 4Â – Speakeasy Electro Swing Washington DC has partnered with a couple local burlesque performers to put one crazy show/dance party. Eletctro Shimmy Speakeasy will be at the Black Cat. Tickets are $12 in advance.
