So many drink deals. Not satisfied with this weeks picks (unlikely)? Always check our D.C Brunch Guide 2014 for every option imaginable.
The upscale Italian restaurant has a brunch to match and we just tried it. Killer eggs. For the do’s and don’ts of the menu, check out our full taste test. The winners:
“The egg white frittata is full of fresh mushrooms and spinach, giving the frittata an earthy edge, while Parmesan cheese adds flavor without making the dish too heavy. The waffles and fried eggs is hearty and filling, with a doughy waffle and sweet maple syrup. The oatmeal is also a win, sprinkled with pistachios, cinnamon, and served with warm milk. Buckwheat pancakes are sweet and rustic, filled with berries and topped with confectioners’ sugar. Crispy fries served in miniature silver buckets, are salty and perfect, with a generous dusting of parmesan.”
It’s a restaurant known for it’s cocktails. Enough said.
“You can head to Derek Brown’s Eat the Rich for the Fisherman’s Brunch with a Grand Chesapeake Boil for Two (seafood, smoked garlic sausage, new potatoes, cauliflower, coddled eggs, grilled bread and aioli). If you’re not in the sharing mood they also offer soft boiled hen egg with an oyster and toast points, as well as the Waterman’s Remedy (shellfish broth with seafood dumplings and squid ink noodles) a fish fry, omelets and more. And because it’s one of Derek Brown’s spots, you can bet the cocktails will be on-point.”
Bottomless brunch is back! And no one is complaining. Look how beautiful those drinks are. It’s like a planetarium in your glass. They have an $18 bottomless brunch option with a prix fixe or a la carte purchase. The whole table has to participate in the bottomless brunch and there’s a two hour limit. A lot of drinking can be accomplished in two hours. The 3-course Mimosa Brunch Experience is $34 and overloaded with savory & sweet options.
“This Russian spot on Connecticut offers a menu of such Eastern European comfort favorites as Borsht, Blinis and every pickled vegetable known to man. Bonus: THE PLACE IS EXTREMELY ADORABLE and there are LIMITLESS mimosas for ladies and LIMITLESS ice cream for kids.”
“And if you’re headed to Union Market, stop by Bidwell for brunch by Chef Mooney. Their Modern American spin on the classic grilled cheese–a Raclette Truffled Grilled Cheese served with poached egg–is sure to please, as are the omelettes (though we hear the breakfast burrito with chorizo is truly the way to go). Many of the fresh herbs you’ll find in your dishes come straight from Mooney’s rooftop garden, so you know you’re eating local.”
