Check out Tico’s brunch debut this weekend from 10 a.m-3 p.m. The menu is traditional items with some Latin influences like the Duck Confit and green chile hash with poached eggs and hollandaise. Now time to salivate over your drink options:

“On the cocktail front, the popular hibiscus margarita appears alongside new brunch sips including a bloody chancho ($11) with bacon infused reposado tequila, house bloody mary mix, and a “tico”rashi rim—Schlow’s riff on the Asian spice mixture, togarashi–made with sea salt, chile de arbol, cayenne, coriander and lime zest. Two coffee cocktails include the mommy’s happy ($10), inspired by travels to Spain, made with Patrón XO Café, Frangelico, Nescafé, iced coffee and milk; and the good morning ($10) made with Patrón XO Café Dark Cocoa, Bailey’s, iced coffee, cream and cinnamon.”

This beautiful waterfront building is home to Italian food and a lot of happy people. The high ceilings and rustic interior make it a must see restaurant, and their brunch is totally up to par. “The menu, inspired by the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, features both small plates and large platters for sharing, with an array of meat–grilled and spit-roasted–that will get your mouth watering. Fresh pasta made in-house is another star of the menu…” For those of that are still interested in having a classic brunch meal, they offer pancakes, yogurt parfaits, and the like for the less Italian food inclined.

Needless to say, you’ll be happy with your drink BUT Blue Jacket has promising food as well. For example, their Doughnut of the Day, fabulous.

“Stop by for some fresh-baked cinnamon rolls or creme fraiche biscuits from Buzz Bakery’s own Tiffany MacIsaac or chow down on dishes like Eggs Benedict with smoked ham, fried dragon creek oysters, cornbread and old bay hollandaise, or the Slow-Roasted Short Rib Hash with potatoes, pickled jalapenos, parsley, two sunny side up hen eggs.”


Step outside the box and try a Japanesse twist on Western dishes. You’ll have all of the original drink options but also an array of unique food picks to test your palette.

“Daikaya has its own nod to the traditional chocolate city chicken and waffle plate, although I can safely say their take on it—a red-bean paste filled waffle in the shape of a fish, with tempura-fried chicken—is likely unobtainable anywhere else. There are a few more wonderful traditional breakfast plates done in a uniquely Japanese fashion. The croissant is served with a helping of uni (that is to say, sea urchin) butter; the poached egg comes with two crab korokke (a take on the Portuguese croquette that is ubiquitous in Japan).”


“This well-executed brunch that comes in both a la carte and prix fixe. The prix fixe brunch gets you a housemade breakfast pastry (choose between cinnamon rolls, chocolate scones,  lemon pound cake, a muffin, or a housemade english muffin), one entree, and bottomless breakfast cocktail, all for $28. (Dreams do come true!) On the more indulgent side you’ll find the Code-Ster (fried pork schnitzel, sausage gravy, fried egg, cheddar and a biscuit), the Lamb Shank Hash (potatoes, onions, harissa, fresnos and sunny eggs) and the Brioche French Toast (made of last summer’s peaches and vanilla bean). On the lighter side you can pick some equally delicious choices like the Egg White Frittatta (with wild mushrooms, leeks and organic greens) or the Oatmeal Brancakes (with maple ricotta and last summer’s peaches).”
