We are not republishing our First Look of Songbryd from April. This is part 2.

The Songbyrd Record Cafe opened in April. The tiny coffee shop has been serving sandwiches and caffeinated beverages for the past few months. Now the restaurant side of the music house is open. Part 3 will be open soon. That’ll be the part with the live music. Based on our hour in the restaurant before opening, people are looking forward to another dinner option on 18th Street.

Similiar to the record cafe, music plays a big role in the restaurant. The beer tap pulls are repurposed microphones. The menus are in records. The music selection comes from the vinyl behind the bar and in time, DJ’s in the front.

Songbyrd Music House, 2477 18th St NW, is open Tuesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to midnight, and from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. If you’re looking for a new spot for a new date, it’s hard to to better than Songbyrd. Meet at the coffee house, if it goes well go next door to the music house for a nice dinner. If it goes really well, head to the bar and see where the evening goes.
