If Brent Kroll doesn’t want us to drink Pinot Grigio, then we’re not doing it. The award winning sommelier has cut his teeth at the Oval Room, Neighborhood Restaurant Group and Proof, but after years of working the D.C. restaurant scene, he’s finally starting his own. Maxwell Park, named after a park Kroll used to visit as a child growing up in Detroit, is the antithesis of the D.C. wine bar. With it’s laid back furniture and tongue in cheek branding, it looks like the kind of spot both wine loves and beginners can share a bottle.
For the experts, Kroll promises he’ll have a specialized dual-zone refrigeration setup that will keep every bottle perfectly chilled and for the beginners, expect a staff made up of up and coming sommeliers who are willing to answer all your good (and bad) questions.
