Welcome to BYT’s newest “hot damn, how could I live without this” column, Eating Out. We’ll be highlighting one food or booze special event every night of the week. From the best happy hours in the city to the uber expensive $500 per person tasting menus, there is something good to eat or drink every single night in this city and we want to help you find it. And yes, we get the joke.
Join the International Spy Museum at The Riggsby for a night full of food and secrecy. Dinner includes four courses with a signature cocktail, wine and beer, but more importantly, you’ll be in the company of John MacGaffin and Ross Newland. Between the two of them these folks have around 60 years of experience in the CIA and MacGaffin is an advisor on Homeland. This is definitely the kind of dinner you wont forget.
One of our favorite events of the year is back and looking better than ever. ZooFari features food and drinks from over 100 of D.C.’s best restaurants. Not to mention live meet and greets with animals, live entertainment, auctions and the ability to wander around the Small Mammal House, Reptile Discovery Center and more. It’s honestly one of the best parties in the city. If you’re going to do anything this week, go with this.
It’s summer time and that means it’s finally warm enough to fire up the grill and cook some delicious meat. Whether you’re doing this for the first time or you just want to upgrade your skills, this class is here for you. Join the head pitmaster of The BBQ Joint as he takes you through the world of brisket. Not only will you get to taste Evans’ brisket (for science obviously) but he’ll also be serving up some beans and collards. Honestly, even if you don’t own a smoker, this might be worth it.
Ocelot Brewing is turning two-years-old and they want to celebrate with you! There’s going to be beer (duh), food, music and more beer. They’ve brewed up some new beers just for the occasion, but they’ll also have their full lineup available as well as brews from other ~mystery~ breweries. As for food, expect to gorge yourself on Empanadas de Mendoza, Big Reggie’s BBQ and Basic Burger while dancing to the sounds of The Junior Bryce Band and The Last Rewind. It’s going to be way more fun than your last birthday party.
Swing by Churchkey on Sunday for a chance to get drunk on some deliciously rare beers. They’ll have one keg of Vanilla Sleeping Forever Imperial Stout and another keg of the hyper rare Never Never Forever Forever Gose, not to mention they’ll be pouring beers from The Veil’s one year anniversary party. Cross those HG’s of your list and get ready to kick Monday off with a hangover.
Your week looks delicious.
