Eating Out

Welcome to BYT’s newest “hot damn, how could I live without this” column, Eating Out. We’ll be highlighting one food or booze special event every night of the week. From the best happy hours in the city to the uber expensive $500 per person tasting menus, there is something good to eat or drink every single night in this city and we want to help you find it. And yes, we get the joke.

Angel’s Envy Rye Cocktail Pairing Dinner @ Beuchert’s Saloon

Get ready for an extra boozy version of Eating Out. Kick off your Tuesday with a special Angel’s Envy Rye pairing menu. Mackenzie Conway will be serving up all sorts of rye cocktails while Chef Andrew Markert astounds you with four excellent courses of food (you’re gonna need something to suck up all that rye). There will also be a conversation with Angel’s Envy’s very own Michael Barton in case you’re sober enough at the end to ask some questions.

Happy Hour @ Eat The Rich

The weather is finally getting nice and while some of you might immediately flock to patios and rooftop bars, sometimes we prefer to do the opposite. If this sudden increase in temperature (and humidity) makes you want to run indoors, we highly recommend you head for Eat The Rich. We love their $1 oyster, $7 cocktails happy hour more than we love most people.

thursdayBluecoat Gin Happy Hour @ The Royal

GinWorld is truly taking over our fair District this week, but if you can only go to one event during the week, make it this one. We love The Royal deeply and with an intensity that is probably bordering on inappropriate. Swing by to learn all about Bluecoat Gin, take a couple minutes to feel like a fancy British women while you sip your cocktail and then order an arepa. Follow it up with a bowl of fries. This is the right way to do Thursday.

fridayMake Your Own Bitters @ U.S. Botanic Garden

None of us go to the Botanic Garden enough. Our city is full of beautiful gems like this one and I would bet all the money I have (lets round up to $5) that you’re not fully utilizing them. Change that. Scrap your dumb Friday plans and go learn how to make bitters like the DIY King / Queen you are on the inside.

saturdayGinWorld DC @ One Eight Distilling

Still hungover from that bitter making madness on Friday night? Pick yourself up, get some breakfast in your stomach, and get ready for round two. GinWorld is officially here and damn does it look like fun. Wander around One Eight’s beautiful distillery and try gins from all over the world! Plus One Eight will be giving out samples of their own very special limited release gin, so you can brag to your friends about trying it later.

sundayCherry Blossom Wine & Beer Festival @ Yards Park

Finish this whirlwind of a week with the Cherry Blossom wine and beer festival! Yes, the cherry blossoms might be dead, but as long as you have a cold beer in your hand, who cares?

Your week looks delicious.
